Director, Global Project Manager

As the Director of Global Project Management (GPM), you will be at the forefront of driving strategic objectives and delivering groundbreaking milestones in drug development. This pivotal leadership role requires you to lead global cross-functional teams, ensuring the seamless integration of processes across early and late-stage projects. Collaborate with the Global Project Leader to lead all aspects of the development process, navigating complex projects that may involve new disease areas, strategic alliances, and multiple clinical studies. Your influence will be essential in delivering innovative medicines to patients.
Please note that this is a global role and there is opportunity for this position to be based out of Boston.
Accountabilities
Provide global program management leadership and excellence through active input into project strategy & vision.
Ensure alignment of project strategy with operational delivery through strategic business partnering.
Share lessons learned and communicate them throughout the GPM community.
Manage or lead drug project strategy as delegated by Global Product Leader.
Ensure appropriate linkages between project strategy and key internal processes.
Collaborate with alliance partners and manage joint alliance forums.
Partner with Business Development to provide strategic feedback to potential deal cases.
Lead project management of cross-functional drug development teams and ensure delivery to plan.
Act as a core GPT team member, driving efficient operation of early and/or late-stage GPTs.
Build a shared sense of purpose, inspiring and energizing others to build a cohesive High Performing Team.
Coach GPT towards successful decision making and issue resolution.
Focus the GPT on the right activities at the right time.
Design, implement, and optimize effective communication within and outside the team.
Ensure the team has a good information management system in line with AZ best practice.
Responsible for data quality as per agreed standards.
Direct GPT towards effective governance decisions.
Provide guidance for efficient decision making.
Leverage broad influential network and ensure engagement at all levels prior to key decisions.
Ensure overall GPT deliverables, budgets, schedules, and performance standards are realistically set and attained.
Maintain plans of the highest data quality, accountable for all Project Management deliverables
Advocate company best practices and adoption of new project management practices.
Apply extensive business acumen to drive cross-functional learning.
Champion innovative ways of working across the enterprise.
Essential Skills/Experience
Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of experience supporting cross-functional drug development teams or leading sub-teams.
Experienced in project management with successful track record of delivering complex/high business impact drug development projects within agreed time, quality, and cost.
Ability to motivate, lead, and inspire high performing teams.
Excellent working knowledge of project management tools and processes.
Proven track record of effective Senior Stakeholder management, demonstrating strong ability to influence strategically.
Ability to mentor, develop, and educate team members.
Strong information management skills, including use of modern collaboration tools such as SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and OneNote.
Experience ensuring high quality data in enterprise systems.
Desirable Skills/Experience
Advanced degree in a scientific discipline and/or MBA.
10+ years’ relevant experience.
In-depth knowledge of drug development process with therapeutic area specific knowledge and experience.
Project Management (PMP) Certification.

Total Rewards
The annual base pay for this position ranges from $167,772.00 to 251,658.00. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
