Director Environmental Sustainability ORD

Are you ready to lead the charge in environmental sustainability? As the Director of Environmental Sustainability, you'll orchestrate initiatives at our Gaithersburg campus and provide strategic guidance across our global Oncology R&D organization. Your mission is to drive progress towards our sustainability goals, ensuring certifications and accreditations are maintained and expanded. Collaborate with governance teams, advise Site Operations, and engage with external networks to identify innovative technologies. You'll be the voice of our sustainability strategy, addressing campus populations, external networks, and regulatory agencies. Reporting to the Senior Director, SHE & Sustainability for ORD, this role is pivotal in shaping a sustainable future.

Accountabilities:

• Direct the development, communication, delivery, and evaluation of environmental sustainability.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners to drive coordinated environmental sustainability management plans.
• Deliver communication strategies applying multi-media platforms to promote awareness of environment and sustainability initiatives.
• Lead the Gaithersburg Energy Management System and certification programs, including ISO 50001.
• Establish natural resource usage reviews to prioritize efforts and track progress of site environmental impact reduction.
• Develop and monitor KPIs, goals, objectives, and targets for environment and sustainability management.
• Ensure internal controls and measurement systems are in place to assess environment and sustainability performance.
• Prioritize and implement improvement plans with defined objectives to support the sustainability strategy.
• Leverage senior leadership dedication for integrating sustainability into core business processes.
• Direct environmental sustainability team to monitor emerging trends and communicate on sustainability topics.
• Direct a team of multidisciplinary professionals to ensure a safe workplace and minimize environmental impact sustainably.
• Apply knowledge and communication skills to influence others in sensitive situations.
• Lead tracking of progress against all Global ORD environmental sustainability goals.

Essential Skills/Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or Engineering, or similar field required.
• 10+ years of experience with 5+ years in environment or sustainability-related roles.

Desirable Skills/Experience:

• Master’s degree preferred.
• PE, LEED AP or CEM certifications preferred.
• Experience influencing regulators or stakeholders at local or state level on environmental sustainability policies.

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $ 140,054 - $210,080 USD Annual. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.  In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
