Finance Portfolio Manager

Group Controllers (GC) and Global Finance Services (GFS) is the core of our Finance function, responsible for designing and delivering high-quality, easy-to-operate finance processes. These processes enable our customers to focus on AstraZeneca's strategic priorities. Our finance team plays a crucial role in driving the company's cash focus by managing supplier and customer payment terms and practices with discipline. AstraZeneca's Finance department is currently undergoing an ambitious, broad-ranging, multi-year transformation program. GFS processes cover various areas such as record to report, purchase to pay, order to cash, tax, and financial planning. Group Controllers play a critical role in overseeing all aspects related to financial reporting, analysis, and control.
Strategy and Service Enablement Team support, develop and drive GC and GFS deliverables and strategy. Finance Governance & Portfolio Management is part of this team. This opportunity involves supervising a diverse range of projects, making sure they align with strategic goals and follow governance frameworks. Reporting to the Director of Finance Governance & Portfolio Management, you'll play a crucial role in our ambitious transformation program.
Accountabilities:
- Portfolio Management: Support the management of Finance portfolio, encompassing significant projects across Operations, GPO-led initiatives, and other areas with substantial impacts on Finance processes, data, systems, and organisational structure. This involves contacting collaborators, gathering status updates, monitoring, and communicating the progress of each project.
- Project Compliance: Ensure all projects adhere to the Finance Governance Framework and meet audit, control requirements, and standards.
- Governance and Prioritisation: Manage the governance of Finance projects, including the prioritisation of project initiatives, initiation, and management of dependencies, risks, and resource optimisation.
- Meeting Documentation: Capture detailed minutes during meetings, ensure action items are completed by assigned owners, and regularly update and follow up on open actions.
- Issue Resolution: Identify, manage, and resolve significant issues, risks, dependencies, and resource constraints within the portfolio to facilitate project success.
- Support Automation Efforts: Assist the Finance Governance Director in automating the Finance Portfolio and Subject Matter Expert (SME) resourcing work.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, Project Management, or a related field.
- Proven track record in project management or relevant roles and demonstrating a solid understanding of operational processes and financial management.
- Understanding of Finance processes, information, data and common technology (including SAP) to identify dependencies and appropriate sequencing.
- Must have strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to use a range of influencing techniques, building strong working relationships.
Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Familiarity with Smartsheet, Power BI, SharePoint Online, Service Now will be a plus.
- Professional qualification in Project Management tool, Power BI, PowerApps knowledge and process flow chart tools.
