Tax Process Architect

Introduction to role:

Join our Axial programme to lead in delivering and deploying a number of innovative tax solutions in our transformational S/4 HANA programme.   We’re midway through our global template design and moving to towards detailed design and deployment in 2025.  As such we’re looking to add to the team to support in the next phases of the programme to lead on large scale s/4 enabled tax transformation.  

We’re looking to speak to candidates with a background in tax process or technology design and implementation, gained either through an in-house tax team, big 4 tax transformation team or tax software house.   You’ll likely also have a deep specialist knowledge in one or more areas of tax specialism, ideally within direct (including reporting, compliance or R&D taxes) also considered,indirect/customs duty, direct , transfer pricing or environmental taxes)

Accountabilities:

Lead the delivery of the design and deployment of one or more process and solutions that integrates tax/finance processes in S/4HANA and related tax/finance systems.  This could cover design and integration of a tax engine, operational transfer pricing solution, S/4 HANA integration with other tax systems (such as Longview), design and deployment of S/4HANA itself, S/4HANA SAP DRC, SAP PaPM (which is being used to underpin a number of tax processes).

Understand the transformation opportunities S/4HANA can provide and bring this to bear throughout the design and deployment.  

Act as a source of knowledge for tax systems and processes, defining and presenting current and future business improvement needs and opportunities.

Act as a key point of integration with other process design areas within the Axial programme and drive forward integration such as supply chain (both commercial and clinical), accounting and transactional processing teams.

Be able to define, articulate and agree tax requirements on a global scale, supported by a team of global experts (who may be internal or external sourced).

Provide expertise with regards to tax solutions capability and process design for Tax ensuring that the design maximises opportunities for improvements and covers all areas for a successful transition.

Work across colleagues in the Axial programme such as the Axial tax team, technology, data and deployment teams.  You’ll also manage stakeholder relationships across business-as-usual teams to deliver the intended design.

Work with a number of external stakeholders such as our systems integrator and external tax specialists to define and deliver the intended design.

Partner with deployment leads to ensure tax solutions are deployed on time and in line in with the proposed design.

Other non-core accountabilities

Contribute to the design and definition of the tax data model focussing on data from S/4HANA (and non-core S/4HANA systems).

Support to define and drive forward the impact on current ways of working, partnering with our change teams.

Support on tax interim state requirement definition, design and implementation.  

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Likely 7+ years’ experience working in either an in-house tax team, tax transformation big-4 team or tax software house delivering tax transformation.
  • Experience of designing and delivering tax processes enabled through technology.  S/4 HANA experience is preferred but not essential.
  • Some project management/planning skills.
