The Global Ops Strategic Sourcing function within Alexion AstraZeneca Global Strategic Sourcing is responsible for providing strategic and tactical oversight of Alexion’s Internal Manufacturing Operations for commercial and clinical products.
The Senior Manager - Strategic Sourcing (Direct & Facilities Management & Capital), will leverage proven sourcing and procurement experience, strategic thinking, solid interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills to support and implement procurement and sourcing processes that improve value while prioritising partner service and business support. You will play a key role in supporting and leading the company’s Direct and Facilities Management and Capital Goods and Services spend in relation to a new API Facility on the Alexion Dublin campus in accordance with the highest standards of compliance, ethics, and integrity.
You will work closely with key partners in Alexion AstraZeneca’s Internal Manufacturing and Operational functions – Supply Chain, Quality, Planning, Technical Services, Management, Legal, and Finance and in the broader AstraZeneca organization. The successful candidate will help drive the success of our Internal Manufacturing and Operations organization.
Accountabilities:
Complete end-to-end sourcing and purchasing activities aligning with procedures, corporate policies, and cGMP requirements for Direct Materials Facilities and Capital projects.
Act as a bridge between the API Organisation and Alexion Facilities and project teams, mitigating duplication and improving commercial value with relevant suppliers and contractors.
Collaborate with Manufacturing, API Planning, and other functions within the broader AstraZeneca organization to understand future needs and develop and manage purchasing plans to support.
Manage the API Dublin facility Direct Materials Supply Chain (utilising ERP) in line with manufacturing requirements.
Lead strategic sourcing activities including RFx development and execution, statement of works, pricing, and appropriate commercial negotiations.
Lead and assist with contract negotiations and execution of commercial service/supply agreements, ensuring alignment with internal business partners to optimise delivery while securing the lowest COG’s / TCO and access to the highest levels of goods and services quality.
Lead and support business partners to develop and enforce contract compliance to manage and measure supplier performance and develop relationships with suppliers.
Work closely with internal partners such as Manufacturing, Planning, Operations, Quality Departments, Facilities, and Finance to flag any supply issues in a timely manner. Act as Business Escalation to resolve issues and mitigate business risk.
Follow market trends for applicable categories of spend. Use this knowledge to support internal customers. Evaluate financial aspects of key cost drivers of global markets using published industry data and benchmarked data.
Collaborate with the broader AZ organisation and look for alliance opportunities from a commercial and strategic perspective.
Introduce new and innovative ideas for the sourcing and procurement of goods and services.
Essential Skills/Experience
- Demonstrated experience in procurement and sourcing, with strong focus and success in supporting manufacturing operations in a dynamic multinational environment.
- Direct experience in contract negotiations, business issue resolution, and supplier relationship management.
- Demonstrated ability to influence internal and external partners.
- Demonstrated experience working with cross-functional global teams.
- Diligent with the ability to effectively manage multiple competing priorities.
- Knowledge of Manufacturing, Quality, and Regulatory requirements as they relate to the Biotech / Pharma manufacturing industry. API manufacturing related experience would be advantageous.
- Significant experience in Procurement and Sourcing roles.
- Bachelor’s Degree, CIPS qualification or equivalent.
- High level of proficiency in SAP, Oracle or similar ERP system.
