Accountabilities

As a Diagnostic Liaison, you will shape and execute diagnostics strategies within assigned therapeutic areas, translating high-level objectives into actionable plans. You will act as the scientific and operational expert in the field, forging trusted relationships with stakeholders and supporting diagnostics adoption, education, and process improvement within specific therapy areas.

What you'll do:

  • Serve as a field-based diagnostic professional with scientific, diagnostics, and therapeutic area expertise.
  • Build and maintain productive partnerships with therapy-specific stakeholders such as pathologists, laboratory medicine professionals, and clinical teams and act as a point of contact for external diagnostics partners.
  • Gain insights through field engagement to aid in the development of local diagnostic strategies.
  • Drive the implementation of diagnostics projects across the therapy area, ensuring timelines, budgets, and scientific standards are met.
  • Collaborate closely with medical, regulatory affairs, and commercial teams to ensure diagnostics projects align with broader therapy objectives.
  • Conduct site visits to understand workflows, referral patterns, and operational challenges.
  • Implement tactical plans locally to support and educate on appropriate testing.
  • Compile diagnostics data and monitor numbers.
  • Share updates on new biomarkers and diagnostics platforms to prepare labs for adoption.
  • Capture, document, and relay actionable insights and unmet needs from labs, HCPs, and the broader scientific community.
  • Represent AstraZeneca Diagnostics as a trusted partner, upholding company values and scientific rigor.
  • Ensure compliance with all local regulatory requirements and AstraZeneca policies.

Other responsibilities include responding to medical and scientific queries, discussing proposals for independent studies, and supporting the market access team in scientific communication when needed.

Essential Skills/Experience

  • BSc/MSc/PhD in biomedical sciences or related field.
  • Experience in Oncology is mandatory.
  • Strategic thinking, analytics, and effective project management skills.
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and organizational skills in working with cross-functional teams.
  • Scientific knowledge of molecular biology, genetics, immunology, and biochemistry.
  • Strong operational and cross-functional track record.
  • Understanding of local molecular diagnostic and clinical testing landscape, especially in oncology.
  • Familiarity with biomarker discovery, validation, and application along with knowledge of current diagnostic technologies.
  • Quick self-learner with the ability to work in a team and independently.
  • Driving license and willingness to drive within Ireland.

Desirable Skills/Experience

  • Additional knowledge including digital health, AI in diagnostics, and integration with electronic health records.
  • Experience in pre-launch, peri-launch, and post-launch phases of a product as part of its life cycle management.
