AstraZeneca's vision in Oncology is to help patients by redefining the cancer-treatment paradigm. A broad pipeline of next-generation medicines is focused principally on four disease areas - GYN /GU , ovarian, lung and hematological cancers. As well as other tumor types, these are being targeted through four key platforms - immunotherapy, the genetic drivers of cancer and resistance, DNA damage response, and antibody drug conjugates, underpinned by personalized healthcare and biomarker technologies.

What you’ll do
As the International Medical Director for GYN /GU , the role will be supporting the launches in GYN /GU , working cross functionally in both the region and its countries to drive the delivery of medical objectives and build the medical capabilities and proficiencies in the teams. Also, with global and external partners and with healthcare providers to improve GYN /GU care across the region. accurate
Location: Dubai, UAE
- Design the International medical strategy for GYN /GU as well as co-create the regional brand strategy together with the commercial lead ensuring the commercial and medical strategies are fully aligned on key objectives.
- Work with other medical directors to plan and deliver above brand activities for GYN /GU cancer
- Works cross-functionally to provide the medical input and expertise for Regional Commercial, Regulatory, and Market Access functions.
- Support and influence the key area/country medical teams, ensuring they have the proper training, skills and knowledge to deliver high quality medical affairs communication and activities, so meeting the brand objectives.
- Drive close collaboration with global and regional teams to ensure the needs of the region are shared and understood and stay informed on the latest strategies and priorities
- Develop and manage relationships with the relevant key external experts, and other external partners with the common objective to improve health outcomes in the region
- Develop, manage and lead all aspects of above-country activities and projects including evidence generation, external medical education and insight gathering to fill identified gaps (data or education)
- Identify Opportunities and best practices of Early Diagnosis, Proactive Screening and Guideline Concordance Care, expediting activities across the region.
- Understand, identify, challenge and propose a Data Generation plan across the region to support launches and reimbursement in the countries.
Essential for the role
- You have an advance degree preferably, a doctor degree in a scientific discipline, including M.D, Pharm.D. or Ph.D.
- Proven 5+ years of experience in medical affairs including country and preferably above country leadership experience of strategic medical planning, launch planning and execution
- Solid experience in team management and project management, ability to communicate and engage teams from different parts of the globe, understanding cross-cultural differences.
- Therapy area knowledge / experience in solid tumour oncology, preferably GYN /GU
- Extensive experience in collaboration with external parties and managing cross-functional and cross-cultural teams
- Solid business understanding and acumen
- Knowledge of the regulatory and compliance framework in which we operate
