What you’ll do
The role is responsible for developing strategy and providing strategic advice on government affairs, public policies, developing health partnerships in order to protect and advance AstraZeneca’s interests, reputation and shape the business environment in which AstraZeneca operates and drives business success.
Improving local policy shaping capabilities and capacity building with the Government
Mapping the stakeholders and increasing the senior government engagement to develop long-term partnerships by interfacing effectively with external stakeholders (government, media, health authorities, embassies and non-governmental organizations i.e. patients’ advocacy group, academic society/association) to allow policy-shaping to support long-term healthcare ambition
Collaborating with cross functional team for strategies alignment aiming to positively influence public policy in business focus areas of key disease areas which enables pt. access to our products and healthcare solutions
Developing and executing a comprehensive communications strategy for external audiences especially the government.
Co-creation with corporate affairs and leading corporate social responsibility projects that enhance company reputation as a member of society in partnership with the government
Supporting the policies for general pricing and access strategies for new and existing products
Essentials for the role:
Bachelor’s degree with substantial experience in government affairs/relations, lobbying processes and organization
At least 3 years of experience in Government Affairs Management
Strategic agility: has in-depth knowledge and broad experience in dealing with the government and is able to bring this in accomplishing strategic objectives
Solid understanding and appreciation of political environments.
Demonstrated experience successfully managing programs and budgets, and tracking and advocating on key policy issues with outstanding organizational and project management skills
Strong leadership skills, influencing and negotiation skills: proven abilities to influence without authority
Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation, facilitation and partnering skills: has proven abilities to work effectively and efficiently in cross-functional, often virtual and matrix teams
Fluent written and verbal English
Must be able to interact with all organizational levels including senior management, senior government leaders, HCPs, academics, think tanks.
Managerial experience handling complicated policy content within a regulated environment, ideally in a corporate life-sciences context
Track record of successful policy-shaping through direct influencing and indirectly through working through trade associations, embassies and other partners
Mature, must be able to work independently without significant direction and achieve concrete results.

- Multi industry marketing practice
- Pharmaceutical experience either directly or indirectly
