Job Title: USE Platform Engineer – Support & Specialist

Introduction to role:
As part of AstraZeneca's Employee Experience improvement focus, Enabling Units are pioneering the development and deployment of the Universal Services Experience platform (USE) empowering employees with the capacity to improve self-service and self-support by leveraging IT, HR and Finance support knowledge globally, improving employee efficiency and effectiveness. We are looking for a Senior Platform Engineer – USE Platforms to join our dynamic CoE team and lead design and build for releases and projects on the USE platform and related applications/integrations.
The core component of this role is to provide ongoing technical support, development and customisation of the Universal Services Experience (USE) platform, grounding the system in AstraZeneca business and service information. The role involves the ongoing development and maintenance of the MoveWorks generative AI Copilot, the associated Large Language Models, Portals, Performance Analytics and orchestrated process automation. This role will also help define the integration strategy leveraging AstraZeneca’s strategic enterprise platform integration standards and MoveWorks connectors.
Key Accountabilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and providing 3rd line technical support, IT support Leadership and consultancy throughout the USE platform, its configurations and integrations. The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include:
- Serve as a senior USE platform support consultant for IT and AZ business partners across regions and business areas globally, starting with Enabling Units and scaling.
- Accepted as a technical expert of the USE Platform and “Creator Studio” configurations of AstraZeneca’s implementation
- Provide a demonstrable understanding of Generative AI / Copilot technologies their capabilities and key challenges / issues
- Collaborate with AstraZeneca’s AI Governance community of practice ensuring continued ethical use of AI and identified sources of knowledge.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and data stewards to identify key AstraZeneca knowledge sources in preparation for their use in training AstraZeneca specific Large Language Models.
- Provide granular user/system access management through role based access control allowing the AstraZeneca or trusted partner the right access to the right sources of knowledge with a short time to value.
- Manage and configure the USE Platform system instances, ensuring optimal performance, security and license management
- Identify USE platform exploitation and innovation opportunities across the enterprise.
- Provide hands on technical support and guidance for assessments / POCs of new USE platform initiatives and features
- Lead delivery activities through Design / Build / Test / Deploy phases for regular releases and key USE platform initiatives.
- Maintain a deep understanding of the e2e MoveWorks’ conversational AI ecosystem providing technical and functional oversight on configuration, customisation, UX development for the AZ USE platform releases and projects.
- Provide USE Platform and integration technical expertise to release and project teams working on the development, implementation, maintenance and improvement the USE platform.
- Generate and implement ideas to simplify / streamline the USE platform within the AZ integration landscape.
- Provide technical expertise to peers and 3rd party development providers to ensure consistency in alignment to AZ ECS/ETS and Enabling Units’ standards and processes.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, integrations, changes, and procedures.
- Serve as a problem-solver of complex issues and take a continual improvement approach to delivering the USE platform
Continuous Improvement and Innovation
- Provide technical guidance and support for continuous improvement opportunities within platform and product-level backlogs.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments and best practices in MoveWorks’ and related technologies.
- Be a source of new insights for exploiting the USE platform by understanding business goals and needs, and identifying how this integrated strategic platform can be used to support these goals and needs.
- Collaborate with Business partners, Enterprise Architects, Solution Architects and Capability leads to co-create functionalities with AZ’s Employee Enhancement initiatives with a view to scale globally.
- Help refine business requirements, set priorities, lead expectations, resolve issues, and work with the other members of the technical team to deliver innovative solutions.
- Socialise new or unused MoveWorks’ “Copilot for the Enterprise” or “Service Management for the Enterprise” product features with business, and identify exploitation opportunities.
- Identify unmet business needs and propose designs to address them.
- Work on PoCs and Hackathons to prove out new insights / designs / technologies.
- Generate innovation ideas and build case for new USE Platform features.
Essential skills & experience
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or similar
- 3 – 5 years proven hands on experience in IT support and software development
- A demonstrable understanding of AI and Machine Learning / Deep Learning Principles providing technical context to the USE Copilot and its potential issues.
- Have previous hands on experience of deploying and supporting AI solutions as APIs for use in applications.
- Practical experience of affecting the training and fine tuning of Large Language generative models, the deployment and support of supervised, unsupervised and transfer AI learning techniques.
- Experience of working with AWS and MS Azure Cloud Services and a broad understanding of their architectures/services
- Hands on support experience of API integrations, RESTful services, MuleSoft and web technologies, including performance problem assessments and resolutions.
- Experienced in and understanding of, the importance of data engineering practices with LLMs. Cleansing, deduplication, evaluation, augmentation and modelling of data in preparation for Analytics and Generative AI/ML
- Demonstrate experience of actively managing the challenges of AI/ML in Bias, Hallucinations and data privacy.
- Have previous experience in the development of APIs in Mulesoft and the configuring of integration between two enterprise products
- Proven experience working in highly technical teams whilst demonstrating excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Experience of working within a quality and compliance environment and application of policies, procedures and guidelines.
Desirable Skills / Good to Have
- Experience in the pharmaceutical industry or related fields
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field
- Experience in leading development teams and developing complex applications involving skills in JavaScript, Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, ScikitLearn or similar.
- A proven experience in Data Management, ETL, Data lake and SQL with ability to frame complex SQL queries.
- 2 or more years’ experience in deploying and supporting market leading generative AI copilots and Large Language Models to global enterprise organisations
- Have previous MoveWorks Copilot, Creator Studio expertise and hands-on experience with large implementations.
- Relevant certifications in MoveWorks, ServiceNow, ITIL, ITSM or related areas are a plus.
- Knowledge of Lean & Agile Ways of Working Agile Software Development techniques and Methodologies.
- Understanding of microservice architecture, design patterns.
- Retained certifications in Microsoft Azure/AWS/Agile
- Good Story telling capability
- Have demonstrable People/Process Management skills
- Proficient in communicating with and managing key business and technical stakeholders
Working Conditions:
Full-time position with occasional on-call support as required.
Flexible Hybrid Working with mandatory three days per week Office-based.
Occasional travel may be required for training or conferences.
