Introduction to Role

Are you ready to make a difference in the world of healthcare data management? Join our team at AstraZeneca, where we lead the Reference Data Management (RDM) enterprise initiative. Our mission is to establish enterprise reference data standards, ensure data governance and integrity, and drive the FAIR agenda within the organization. We focus on identifying reference data entities, managing the rollout of RDM solutions, and helping businesses realize the value of high-quality reference data. Centralized, trusted, and high-quality reference data is crucial for accelerating business processes, empowering enterprise functions with digital capabilities, and enabling effective data-driven decisions. We are building a robust RDM capability based on the latest healthcare domain standards to collaborate effectively with our internal and external business partners.

Accountabilities

What will you achieve with us? Collaborate with RDM business stakeholders, solution architects, tech leads, data stewards, business analysts, and data quality assurance analysts to deliver high-quality RDM solutions into production. Lead business analysts and data analysts in designing workflows, process flows, and data flows between systems. Analyze business requirements and create technical design documents that align with the company's architecture standards. Ensure alignment with enterprise coding standards through proficient RDM technical design and industry standards. Utilize Java and other programming tools for seamless data integration between systems. Solve complex problems with Java/J2EE technologies while coordinating multiple teams. Work with DevOps engineers to automate code review, deployment, and rollback processes. Document RDM solutions clearly and transition them to the BAU team post go-live. Manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and produce quality results. Deliver objectives effectively as part of a team or independently. Embrace new techniques, tools, and languages with a willingness to learn. Influence change in existing teams by adopting Agile or other methodologies when necessary. Address data issues when integrating semantic data with relational data. Conduct training sessions using RDM tools.

Essential Skills/Experience

- Experience in RDF (Resource Description Framework), TDB (Jena Triple Store Database), OWL (Web Ontology Language), API (Native APIs), Open standards – XML, RDF, Turtle formats, Fuseki (SPARQL End Point) or similar technologies.

- Good Understanding of Reference Data management.

- Proficient in RDM technical design, industry standards, best patterns, and unit test automation practices.

- Operational understanding of common data models, data standards, vocabularies and their implementation within a centralized repository.

- Proficient skills on Java/J2EE technologies.

- Proven experience with development software such as (e.g. Java, Python).

- Experience in communicating with stakeholders, providing leadership and guidance to project teams, and monitoring and reporting on progress and outcomes to leadership.

- Good written documentation skills.

- Demonstrate the capability to problem solve, look for solutions and communicate these openly in a timely manner.

Desirable Skills/Experience

- MuleSoft, Snowflake, PowerBI and PostGres DB, Java or similar technologies.

- Experience of working in a regulated environment (GxP or similar).

- Experience in RDM Architecture and Data Modelling principles.

- Working in ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) or similar landscapes.

- Hands-on experience in building REST APIs and Integration using technologies, such as MuleSoft, SnapLogic or similar.

- Experience and familiarity with a range of automated deployment tools e.g. Jenkins CI/CD. Familiarity with source control workflows including Pull Request, Code Review, Approval, Merge.

- DevOps experience including deployment automation, code review automation, code repository process automation and code coverage & unit testing automation.

- Experience of working in agile teams using methodologies such as SCRUM, use of Jira and Confluence.

- Experience in any Taxonomy or Reference Data Management tool (e.g. SmartLogic, Centree).

- Working knowledge of knowledge graphs and sparql.

- Keen data analysis skills with semantic and graph database experience.

- Working knowledge of SKOS and SHACL (W3C standard).
