Introduction to role

AstraZeneca is making significant investments in our IT Platform Capabilities to manage business demand around IT solutions and deliver value faster by adopting an Agile DevOps delivery model specifically tailored towards individual platform requirements for the R&D Patient Safety Value Stream. This includes managing business-as-usual demand and burst projects of varying complexities. As part of this capability build, we are looking for an individual to play the role of a Project Manager within the R&D Patient Safety value stream, mainly focused on Oracle Argus.

The Project Manager has experience delivering a range of small-scale to large-scale project/program implementations. The Project Manager operates with interactive communication, demonstrating inclusion and cultural sensitivity. The role will partner with platform team members, business product/process owners, product managers, and SMEs to support the development of solutions across the R&D Patient Safety value stream, ensuring that the proposed solutions meet established AstraZeneca quality and compliance standards and business solution needs.

Accountabilities

Projects/Programs - Operate at a functional level in assessing and defining business needs. Proactively seek out opportunities to enhance and improve in line with strategic goals, proposing potential solutions through research. Agree on implementation plans with all collaborators involved and track/deliver to the plan. Manage inter-dependencies between projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Manage changes to project scope, identify risks, and create mitigation plans.

Manage Platform/Project/Program Budgets – Act as the single point of contact to manage the budget of the overall Patient Safety platform, including services, licenses, maintenance, and any unplanned/one-time spend across the platform. For burst projects/initiatives, estimate the cost and manage the budget accordingly. Propose cost-efficient ways of working and drive implementation.

Stakeholder Relationships - Effectively identify business and IT stakeholders, build and maintain relationships according to individual stakeholder needs and levels of influence. Contribute to communication plans and change management for projects and stakeholders.

Contract Renewals and Negotiations – Initiate contract renewals on time, include procurement teams, negotiate with suppliers, and work with the delivery excellence team to ensure contracts are signed on time to ensure compliance of the BAU components/environments.

Assist with argument and benefits management by defining the rationale for investment, focusing on value and benefits realization.

Solution Evaluation - Analyze and assess solution proposals and articulate supporting reasoning, i.e., assessing business value, improving value vs. spend.

Work collaboratively with:

  • Business Relationship Managers and platform team members (Platform lead, DevOps lead, Release manager, Business Analysts, testers, etc.) to develop and maintain relationships, support implementations, and act as a point of contact for deliverables.
  • Business SMEs to identify business requirements and effectively communicate impact, support or facilitate progress of initiatives.
  • Product Owners/Managers to identify and devise solutions that optimize business process performance, capability, and competitiveness.
  • Delivery Excellence team, Service Excellence team, and Procurement to ensure all BAU contracts are active and managed without any compliance risks.

Essential Skills/Experience

  • 8+ years of relevant IT Project Management experience
  • Prior experience, business sense, and functional understanding of ArisG Advanced Signals or Argus
  • Experience with project management and delivery methodologies. Experience using PMO tools/techniques to plan and track initiatives.
  • Strong engagement, communication, and facilitation skills, including presentation, team management, and influencing skills.
  • Experience working in a GxP environment
  • Experience working and negotiating with third-party suppliers/vendors
  • Presentation, Networking, Communication & Facilitation
  • Customer Focus and Partner Collaboration

Desirable Skills/Experience

  • Experience working in Platform ways of working and DevOps model
  • Good understanding of Argus or ArisG
  • Degree in relevant field or formal certification
  • Exposure to Agile Methodologies and JIRA
  • Experience working in a global organization
