Job Title: Manager for Manufacturing Applications Support
Career Level - D3
Introduction to role
Join our central team of IT system professionals and analysts within a multi-national organization. Working with the Global Factory Operations team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and other applications directly related to AstraZeneca’s manufacturing operations. As a collaborative team member, you will support and maintain our business-critical applications, ensuring seamless operations.
Accountabilities
- Ensure optimum performance and stability for multiple systems within AstraZeneca Operations, providing workarounds and identifying areas for improvement or permanent solutions.
- Oversee MES support functions and Discoverant applications, ensuring smooth interaction with AstraZeneca sites and other central team resources.
- Monitor production systems to ensure consistent operation according to Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Provide 2nd/3rd line support for technical queries, bug fixes, and small enhancements, adhering to AstraZeneca standards and change control procedures.
- Take ownership of issues through to resolution, including partner concern and root cause investigation. Use problem-solving methodologies such as Lean, PPS, and Six Sigma.
- Support development activities by assisting in code build and deployment, tool configuration management, application environment setup, and change/release management following Agile and DevOps methodologies.
- Apply technical knowledge to multiple systems and support various business groups.
- Develop specialist knowledge in relevant systems, documenting and sharing that knowledge with global teams.
- Liaise with multiple stakeholders, including users, infrastructure/middleware teams, and third-party software vendors, to resolve issues and identify process improvements.
- Maintain documentation templates and existing SOPs to ensure consistent support delivery.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance site system performance.
- Lead PAS-X and Discoverant project delivery when required.
- Mentor and educate junior MES & Discoverant analysts.
- Assist in resource allocation analysis and documentation preparation for projects.
- Support budget and forecast report preparation to ensure project alignment with cost specifications.
- Interface effectively with system business owners of GxP systems, providing technical support.
Essential Skills/Experience
- 14+ years of prior experience in application support and maintenance (L2/L3 support).
- 5+ years of demonstrated experience managing and supporting a Manufacturing Execution System, PAS-X would be an advantage.
- Development and solve experience on applications built on .NET technologies.
- Strong development and solve experience with Oracle, SQL Server or any other RDBMS.
- 8+ prior development experience in Oracle SQL and PLSQL and should have worked on complex SQL queries.
- Hands-on Knowledge in SQL Server (T-SQL) and HTML and Style Sheet Creation (CSS).
- Hands-on knowledge of Informatica/SnapLogic development.
- Experience in scripting using PowerShell and/or other automation tools like MS PowerApps or Power Automate.
- Expertise on incident, problem, change, and release management following ITIL processes.
- Experienced on IT Service Management tools like ServiceNow, Remedy or Service Manager.
- Experience working with third-party vendor applications.
- 5+ years of prior experience working with DevOps and Scrum methodologies. Average understanding in project management methodologies, tools, and standard process.
- Demonstrated abilities to take the initiative to respond to constantly evolving priorities.
- Effective engagement with senior leaders.
- Ability to facilitate discussion, decision-making, and conflict resolution.
- Onboard new hires to their role and ensure timely readiness.
- Provide coaching/mentoring and performance development for their team members.
- Ability to handle strict timelines, issues & ensure quality of work you're doing.
- Team skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels within the organization, internally and externally.
- Previous experience supporting and administrating Oracle databases, terminal-served applications (Citrix) and JVM hosted apps (Jboss).
- Demonstrated ability to apply technical knowledge to multiple systems and support multiple business groups.
- Fluent English to constantly connect with people from different countries across the globe.
Desirable Skills/Experience
- Familiarity with life sciences (Pharma) domain concepts, workflow, and terminology.
- Experience with one or more of the following is an added advantage:
- Manufacturing Execution Systems
- Manufacturing process control systems
- Material handling and movement systems
- Warehouse Management Systems
- Experience working with Windows Server, Oracle Databases, Microsoft Visual Studio, and SQL Developer.
- Understanding of FDA regulations like GxP and 21 CFR Part 11.
- Experience in setting up and managing application environments.
- Mindset to support business-critical applications.
