Introduction to role

Join our Research Data & Analytics Team within R&D IT, a global team of experienced data and AI engineers dedicated to transforming medicine discovery and development through data, analytics, and AI. Our mission is to partner with scientific teams to deliver capabilities, products, and platforms that accelerate the development of safe and effective medicines. The Scientific Computing Platform (SCP) is a key component of this mission, providing high-performance computing solutions essential for computational chemistry, imaging, multi-OMICs, structural biology, data science, and AI.

Accountabilities

  • Own network implementation, operations, reliability, and processes, translating AZ's strategic vision into Network solution engineering.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in one or more technology domains to solve complex and mission-critical problems.

  • Perform regular audits to proactively identify and remediate network risks or issues.

  • Evaluate business requirements and identify solutions for applying business, information, and technology elements to solve specific problems.

  • Ensure network operational support at scale for Block, Object, and File both on-premises and in the public cloud.

  • Troubleshoot priority incidents, engage in blameless postmortems, and ensure permanent closure of incidents.

  • Identify gaps between applicable requirements and current procedures/controls; drive resolution of mitigating controls.

  • Develop and implement solutions that strengthen business operating models, enhance user experience, and improve efficiency and controls.

  • Prepare high-quality HLD and LLD design documents.

  • Sequence activities, schedule tasks, and prepare project plans.

  • Provide support for network repairs and changes while collaborating across teams and updating customers on status and ticket information.

  • Contribute to the overall monitoring and operations of our on-premises and cloud network infrastructures including intra-DC, inter-DC, and Internet and proxy connectivity. Implement, manage and troubleshoot entire network stacks. Contribute to the automation of network infrastructure end-to-end including provisioning, management and monitoring.

  • Daily chances to utilize your creativity in designing and implementing networks at scale, such as automated deployments.

Essential Skills/Experience

  • CCIE/CCNP or equivalent certification with a minimum of 10+ years of relevant working experience, including the last 5 years in large-scale network architecture design implementation and support network deployment, implementation, and operations.

  • Operating and maintaining large scale IP Networking Technologies and protocols such as: TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, ISIS, VRF, VxLAN, EVPN, QoS, GRE, IPSEC, DNS, MACsec.

  • TOGAF or equivalent and ITIL certifications are an added advantage.

  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to explain complex technological ideas to a non-technical audience.

  • Ability to analyze and resolve networking related issues.

  • Ability to work in a high-paced environment, be flexible, follow tight deadlines, organize, and prioritize work.

  • Significant experience working with vendors, professional services, and providers.

  • Automation-first approach.

  • In-depth technical hands-on experience in one or more of the following capabilities: Network Security, DC, Cloud Networking or Network Automation.

  • Deep technical knowledge in high availability design, implementation, optimization, and operations.

  • Experience working in large enterprises is an added advantage.

  • Agile Enterprise mentality.

  • Self-starter who continuously develops new skills and proactively leads own career development.

  • Excellent influencing, networking, and collaborative working skills.

  • Ability to work well in and lead/collaborate across diverse matrixed global teams.

Desirable Skills/Experience

  • Working knowledge of InfiniBand and Mellanox adapters

  • Familiarity with tools such as NetBox, Prometheus, Grafana, PerfSONAR, and LibreNMS for monitoring and managing a global network

  • Passionate about innovating and investing in groundbreaking technologies.
