As a Data Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in enhancing our data engineering capabilities within the D&A space. Accountabilities

  • Provide data engineering support (ETL, Data Products, Reports) to the R&D IT portfolio.

  • Deliver cost-effective solutions for data engineering activities, including data ETL pipelines using Python/PySpark/Lambda.

  • Test and quality assess new D&A solutions to ensure they are fit for release, including code assurance, unit and system integration testing, data testing, release management control, and support of UAT processes.

  • Ensure business data and information assets are available as data services and artefacts for consumption by the wider AstraZeneca enterprise.

Essential Skills/Experience

  • Relevant Experience: 3 to 6 Years

  • Good Experience in Python/PySpark/Lambda and implement best practices for error handling, optimization, job layout, job design and naming conventions.

  • Good Experience in Graph Database like Cypher QL / Neo4j / Neptune.

  • Amazon Web Services: Connecting, loading, and reading data from AWS Services like S3, Athena, Glue, Aurora Experience and familiarity with data models and artefacts.

  • Familiar with using version control (branching, merging etc), ideally Git. Knowledge of working with Python project branches, merging them, publishing, and deploying code to runtime environments.

  • Experience of working with a range of data analytics architectures. These may include traditional warehousing, distributed computing, visualization analytics.

  • Interpret data, process data, analyze results and provide ongoing support of productionized applications.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to resolve production issues.

  • Understanding of business area/process in scope.

  • Willing to work in a cross-cultural environment across multiple time zones. Ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team to achieve objectives.

  • Eager to learn and develop new tech skills as required.

  • Good written and verbal skills, fluent English.

Desirable Skills/Experience

  • Good to have domain knowledge (processes & data): Pharma R&D

  • Any regulatory experience such as GxP

  • Agile/Scrum process

  • ITIL knowledge
