Job Purpose:

Are you ready to shape the future of healthcare? As a Policy & Government Affairs Manager at AstraZeneca, you will develop and implement strategies to influence patients' paths and ensure alignment with our corporate priorities. You will work closely with internal teams and external partners to create impactful public affairs projects and strategic policy initiatives that support patient access. Your role will involve engaging with key stakeholders, conducting research, and building networks to share best practices in the legislative, regulatory, and public policy arenas

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Develop strategies for public policy and government affairs to influence patient pathways while aligning therapeutical area (TA) priorities with AstraZeneca's corporate affairs, market access, and business objectives.
  • Monitor and analyze healthcare legislation, regulations, and policy changes, identifying gaps and complexities in managed markets or public policies.
  • Implement advocacy strategies to influence healthcare policy and engage key stakeholders, including policymakers, industry partners, and community organizations.
  • Prepare policy materials (reports, position papers, presentations) to communicate recommendations effectively to internal and external audiences.
  • Advocate for organizational interests by building relationships with government officials and legislative staff, participating in coalitions, and ensuring compliance with lobbying regulations.
  • Track progress of relevant legislation and regulations affecting AstraZeneca while collaborating with cross-functional teams to align strategies.
  • Lead corporate communications projects, serving as a point of contact for patient advocacy groups and fostering productive partnerships.
  • Oversee advocacy programs focused on disease awareness, diagnosis, access to care, and policy initiatives.

Minimum Criteria and Competencies:

Education

Bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, healthcare, life science, Pharmaceutical, or related field.

Experience

  • 3 years of experience in public policy, government affairs, or advocacy within the healthcare sector.
  • Governmental and Ministry experience is a plus.

  • Analytical and research skills to interpret complex legislation and regulations.
  • Communication expertise, including drafting policy documents and delivering presentations.
  • Stakeholder engagement, with proven ability to build relationships across diverse groups.
  • Healthcare policy knowledge, covering systems, regulations, and public health issues.
  • Strategic thinker and problem solver, capable of navigating ambiguity.
  • Team player and independent worker, adaptable to changing environments.
  • Organizational and detail-oriented skills, ensuring efficiency in work processes.
  • Proficiency in new and social media platforms for strategic outreach.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, with curiosity to connect ideas and opportunities.
