We are seeking a highly motivated in vivo Senior Scientist with deep scientific and technical expertise in immuno-oncology mouse models and a track record of scientific excellence to join our Discovery Immune Cell Engagement team in Cambridge, UK. As a Senior Scientist, you will be a key member of a team focused on supporting immuno-oncology projects through the drug discovery process. You will bring your theoretical and practical expertise in immunology and in vivo modelling to design studies and deliver datasets that will have a direct impact on immuno-oncology research projects.
Accountabilities:
Working in this laboratory-based position, you will develop, design, conduct, and analyze in vivo and ex vivo experiments to assess the function of our candidate drugs and help us to dissect the mechanism of action of novel therapeutics targeting the immune system for cancer therapy. You will carry out in-depth ex vivo analysis of samples from tumor studies (e.g., high-dimensional flow cytometry, ELISA, RNAseq, etc.), to understand the effect of test substances on immune function in complex preclinical models (including humanized mouse models).
In-depth technical expertise in immuno-oncology preclinical modeling and analysis of immune function is essential for this role. As a highly organized and self-motivated individual with a strong lab/practical background, you will drive innovation in preclinical modeling and actively keep up-to-date with new technological developments and have a genuine passion for this field of research.
Essential Skills/Experience:
PhD or equivalent experience in immunology/immuno-oncology/cancer biology
Hands-on experience with animal handling and procedures including dissection and tissue collection and running in vivo models, particularly oncology models
Experience in a range of technical skills such as tissue culture techniques for cell-based immunoassays, experience working with immune cells, multiparameter flow cytometry, and ELISA workflows
Expertise in design, statistical analysis, and interpretation of in vivo studies
Depth of understanding and strong enthusiasm for immunology and immuno-oncology
Experience preparing written scientific reports (e.g., manuscripts) and oral presentations (e.g., slides, posters)
Strong interpersonal, influencing, negotiating, and collaboration skills together with evidence of having used these skills to support problem-solving and in delivering projects in a collaborative environment
Willingness to work flexibly; including occasional evenings as necessary
Desirable Skills/Experience:
Experience using preclinical mouse models of tumor immunology
Experience working with humanized mouse models
Home Office Licence (Modules 1-4) or equivalent qualification for animal work and experience working under Home Office Regulations (as a Personal Licence Holder)
Experience in visualizing/quantifying high content multi-parameter flow cytometry data /transcriptomic datasets
Prior experience with spectral flow cytometry
Knowledge of the drug discovery process
