The Enterprise FP&A team provides overall finance planning and analysis, decision support, and finance operations support to Alexion’s corporate center functions. The team provides an enterprise-wide view of Alexion’s financial performance to the Alexion Leadership Team and assisting the CFO with delivering financial targets, actively handling opportunities and risks. They have extensive partnerships with all areas of the Company, including Commercial, R&D, Operations, Enabling Functions, etc. They are also responsible for all aspects of corporate management reporting and for leading the Annual Business Cycle of the Company, in particular the Long, Mid and In-Year Budgeting and Forecasting exercises. The coordination of these exercises requires partnership with AstraZeneca Group Finance and elaboration of detailed and robust guidelines and timelines.

The Associate Director, Enterprise FP&A works in strong collaboration with the Business in conducting robust forecasting and reporting capabilities to define the financial outlook of the Company. The key focus of this role is to provide financial and analytical support and oversight and produce financial forecasting to enable data-driven decision-making, demand and infrastructure planning, and deeper comprehension of underlying commercial and financial opportunities.

Accountabilities/ Duties:

  • Planning and Forecasting Lead for all In-Year and Mid-Term financial processes (e.g., RBU1, RBU2, RBU3/MTP, Phased Budget, etc.). Plays a critical role in working in Group Finance to translate and propose guidelines, processes, and ways of working for the Rare Disease Unit business.

  • Responsible for all aspects of the processes, including communication and working across a wide range of stakeholders to successfully deliver the financial outlook for the Unit. These stakeholders include Commercial Finance, Operations, R&D, G&A, etc.

  • Maintain a robust Enterprise-wide FP&A Calendar, establish presentation and consolidation standards in line with Group requirements while catering for RDU specificities.

  • Work in partnership with the GFS (Global Financial Services) organization to ensure alignment in the process, timelines, and deliverables. This resource is key in adding offshore capacity to the role.

  • Anticipate FP&A requirements and drive system improvements where required. Such improvements may span across multiple platforms such as SAP, Anaplan, and Qlik.

  • Prepare periodic reporting of consolidated business submissions. Monitor performance against budget, investigate variances, and initiate corrective actions with FP&A functional leads. Support standardization of monthly/quarterly/annual reporting.

  • Support development of new reporting tools and data views to enable sound business assessments and facilitate decision-making.

  • Ensure data integrity in the company’s financial systems (SAP, BI, Anaplan, and others) and work with Accounting, IT, and FP&A to validate or correct any data anomalies and/or issues.

  • Direct report responsibility to set direction, guide, and develop as required.

  • Play a key role in the development of GFS senior analysis, seeking opportunities to evolve partnering capabilities and general knowledge around the RDU business and its deliverables.

  • Ad-hoc reporting, analysis, and special projects as requested.

Essential for the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 5 years of experience in FP&A or related Corporate Finance positions

  • Outstanding ability to communicate financial performance and results and deliver presentations to senior management

  • Capable of designing and implementing systems and data structures effective for automating reporting and analysis solutions

  • Experience in working with systems/applications such as SAP, Power BI, Qlik, and Anaplan

  • Ability to develop strong partnership/team-building relationships with the business and across functions; comfortable operating in a matrix environment

  • Demonstrates initiative, maintains a positive attitude, and is proactive

  • Demonstrates internal client service approach and project management skills, including the confidence to escalate issues in a timely fashion and an accountable culture/system of quality control and assurance

  • Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, and analytical abilities with a strong desire to make a positive impact on business performance

Desirable for the role:

  • MBA and/or CFA
