Senior Director, Multiomic Analysis
We are seeking a Senior Director for our Oncology Translational Medicine department to lead efforts in multi-omicanalyses, working in partnership with lab, strategy, and data science functions, to deliver data-driven actionable insights through comprehensive analysis of patient biomarker data for all areas of AstraZeneca Oncology’s research portfolio. This newly created position will focus on developing approaches to address key challenges in clinical and translational research, using advanced computational approaches and integrative analyses. In addition to AstraZeneca clinical trials internal data, you and your team will be working with key academic and commercial partners around the world, including the Partners of Choice Network as well as other academic collaborations.
Accountabilities:
As a Senior Director, you will lead a global team of computational scientists, performing in-depth analysis and interpretation of multi-omic datasets (RNAseq, WES, WGS, single cell spatial, etc.) with associated clinical metadata. You will be embedded in the Translational Medicine group and work closely and collaboratively with partner lines such as Oncology Data Science & AI and Cancer Biomarker Development. You will leverage your expertise in translational research,cancer biology, the tumor microenvironment,and computational analyses to provide actionable insights into disease biology, drug mechanisms of action and resistance, and the development of precision oncology approaches.
Essential Skills/Experience
Relevant MD and/or PhD and 10+ years of experience or Master’s degree and 13+ years of experience combining technical expertise in bioinformatics, computational biology and/or data science, specifically related to NGS-based technologies
Demonstrated strong record of high impact scientific publications in top tier peer-reviewed journals
Experience managing teams with a focus on performance, coaching, feedback, and professional development
Highly developed written and verbal communication, presentation, business analytics, and consultancy skills
Excellence in integrative data analysis and interpretation leveraging leading-edge computational approaches, including AI-based, to develop solutions to key problems in oncology drug discovery and development
Build and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders, collaborators, scientific advisors, and alliance partners to help drive the scientific research and to ensure that your team meets scientific and business objectives
Ability to think critically, creatively, flexibly and to anticipate and solve problems while working in a fast-paced, fluid, highly matrixed global work environment
Position is an office-based hybrid role working at AstraZeneca’s research site in Barcelona, Spain and managing a global team across time zones
