Product Owner – Enterprise Data Sharing

Introduction to role

The Enterprise Data Office Data Value Realization team is seeking a Product Owner to join us with expertise in Data Sharing, Data Collaboration (Trusted Research Environment), and Legal/Compliance/Governance around these services. The role will be responsible for overseeing the development and maintenance of our Data Sharing & Teamwork capabilities as well as the development of any supporting processes/governance frameworks and associated organisational change activities. This role demands close collaboration with multi-functional and cross-SET area teams to ensure that our capabilities, data governance tools, and processes meet the highest standards and partner needs.

Accountabilities

• Vision and Strategy: Define and communicate a clear Enterprise vision for Enterprise Data Sharing, aligned with company objectives and partner needs.
• Customer Engagement: Work predominantly with the SET area Data Offices and Business Technology Groups, acting as a liaison between business users, technical teams, and other collaborators.
• Roadmap Development: Build and maintain a product roadmap that communicates the planned steps to achieve the vision. Oversee the development of the supporting technology stack in conjunction with engineering and architecture to ensure it continues to meet and adapt to the needs of the business as well as alignment with industry standard methodologies.
• Backlog Management: Build, manage, and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring that the delivery team is working on the most impactful tasks to deliver value.
• Governance Processes: Develop robust processes for the Enterprise Data Sharing governance in line with Enterprise Data Governance Standards and Frameworks.
• Enterprise Demand Management & Onboarding Process: Own and define the enterprise process for onboarding internal and external collaborators, ensuring alignment with the enterprise governance framework.
• Performance Metrics: Establish and monitor key performance indicators to measure product performance and advise decision-making.
• Training and Documentation: Ensure that comprehensive training materials and documentation are available for end-users and customers.
• Communication Strategy: Develop and implement a communication strategy and plan for EDSC capabilities in alignment with defined enterprise communication standards and best practices, collaborating closely with the enterprise communication lead.

Essential Skills/Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Management, Business Administration or a related field.
• Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) qualified or similar, with an understanding of data management frameworks and principles.
• Demonstrable experience as a Product Owner, Data Engineering lead or similar role in the field of data governance, management and engineering.
• Strong familiarity with data management technologies.
• Solid grasp of the principles of data engineering.
• Prior technical experience with data platforms and infrastructure (e.g AWS/Snowflake).
• Experience with, and the ability to lead, agile development teams.
• Ability to work optimally with multi-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Outstanding communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence without direct authority in matrix structures.

Desirable Skills/Experience

• Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or similar Agile certification/experience.
• Experience in the pharmaceutical industry and understanding of the specific regulatory and data governance requirements.
