Head of Market Access NZ
As the Head of Market Access NZ, you'll report to ANZ Market Access Director and play a pivotal role in developing market access and pricing strategies for Astra Zeneca medicines, shaping the future of innovative medicines access in New Zealand.
This part-time role offers flexibility, allowing you to work either 4 days (0.8) or 3 days (0.6) per week to suit your lifestyle.

What you’ll do
Specifically, you will utilise your comprehensive understanding of the New Zealand reimbursement landscape, as well as your strong proactive leadership skills to develop and execute market access strategies that deliver access to AstraZeneca’s life-changing medicines for New Zealand patients. In the role of Head of Market Access, you will collaborate with New Zealand stakeholders and the AstraZeneca cross-functional teams in New Zealand, Australia and within the global organisation, including Marketing, Sales and Medical Affairs, to ensure successful market access strategies that are aligned with global brand strategy.
Accountabilities:
- Lodging applications for AZ medicines to be considered for PHARMAC funding
- Identifying, pursuing and managing funding arrangements and tenders as opportunity presents
- Maintaining strong relationships with key funding stakeholders and patient groups to support PHARMAC funding
- Work with cross-functional teams to develop optimised market access strategies for New Zealand that are aligned with global brand strategy
- Develop compelling product value propositions, and pricing arrangements that achieve the right balance of sustainability and profitability
- Design and implement affordability programs that balance patient access with budget considerations.
- Oversee budgets in compliance with Astra Zeneca finance and accounting requirements.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Strong collaboration experience & skills
- Minimum of 10 years progressive experience in a senior role within the pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical market including market access, marketing, medical affairs, account management, and/or sales.
- Strong understanding of the New Zealand healthcare system, market access landscape and the legal/regulatory environment for pharmaceuticals/biopharmaceuticals
- Ability to think strategically and to translate strategy into tactical implementation and to motivate people to implement strategy
- Collaboration and leadership skills, including the ability to gain consensus and act within ambiguous, complex matrix organizations
- Results oriented with excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Thorough understanding of customer and industry marketing practices and trends
- Comfort with working autonomously with regular local travel and a 100% home office environment.
Desirable Skills/Experience:
- MBA
- Experience within a senior Government Affairs role
