Finance Controller

Introduction to role

Are you ready to take on a pivotal role in AstraZeneca Near East & Maghreb Countries as a Finance Controller? This position is crucial for maintaining financial integrity, enhancing operational efficiency, and ensuring strategic alignment within our collaborative operations. Accountabilities

Financial Reporting & Accounting

• Lead end-to-end accounting operations, including month-end close, journal entries, and reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with Algerian GAAP and IFRS standards.
• Review and approve financial transactions and supporting documentation.
• Manage financial reporting for collaboration arrangements, including milestone payments, royalties, and cost-sharing.

Cost & Inventory Management

• Oversee cost of goods sold (COGS) and inventory accounting processes.
• Analyze production variances (e.g., material usage, purchase price).
• Partner with supply chain and operations to optimize inventory valuation and control.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

• Manage financial aspects of collaboration agreements and contractual obligations.
• Serve as the finance liaison with Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs).
• Work closely with project directors and cross-functional teams to support operational and strategic initiatives.

Planning, Analysis & Business Support

• Support financial planning and forecasting activities.
• Prepare business cases and financial models for new projects.
• Partner with FP&A and Finance Business Partners to execute monthly accruals and variance analysis.

Systems & Process Improvement

• Support ERP (SAP) implementation and testing phases.
• Develop deep understanding of financial systems and their impact on reporting.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and challenge the status quo.

Governance & Controls

• Maintain a strong internal control environment aligned with AstraZeneca’s financial control framework.
• Ensure audit readiness and compliance with internal and external requirements.

Essential Skills/Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or related field.
• Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong technical knowledge of Algerian GAAP and IFRS.
• Proficiency in SAP and advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable Skills/Experience

• Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CMA).
• Experience in the pharmaceutical or manufacturing industry.
• Prior supervisory or team leadership experience.
• Fluency in English; French or Arabic is a plus.
