We are currently recruiting for the 2026 cohort, aimed at beginning the fellowship in the summer of 2026.
Programme Structure
The Boston Clinical Fellows program is designed to provide a comprehensive, immersive experience in clinical development. Here’s how it works:

Duration & Focus: Fellows will work in Early or Late Clinical Development for the program’s duration, with rotations across other key functions.

Rotations & Cross-Functional Learning: Gain exposure to regulatory, patient safety, biostatistics, Commercial, and Medical Affairs teams, ensuring a holistic understanding of drug development.

Research & Clinical Assignments: Serve as the lead for a longitudinal clinical project, while contributing to the design and implementation of clinical protocols, development plans, and strategies.

Educational Seminars & Meetings: Participate in regular clinical and scientific meetings, attend structured training programs, and engage in internal and external AstraZeneca events.

Hands-On Responsibilities: Establish and approve scientific methods for clinical protocols and data systems. Assist in designing development plans and strategies for compounds and indications. Collaborate with pre-clinical and translational sciences and senior management. Work with CROs and clinical operations teams to ensure successful trial execution. Supervise project team members in planning, conducting, and evaluating clinical trials.

Eligibility Criteria
Wondering if you’re the right fit for the Boston Clinical Fellows program? Here’s what we’re looking for:
- Educational Background: PhD or MD required. Additional advanced degrees (e.g., master’s or doctoral) are a plus.
- Professional Experience Minimum 5 years of experience in a clinical practice or research setting. Strong publication track record demonstrating scientific contributions.
- Scientific Expertise: Proven knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
- Metabolism-related diseases (e.g., T2DM, obesity, MASH)
- Immunology (e.g., gastroenterology or rheumatology diseases)
- Respiratory
- Cell therapy
- Core Competencies: Evidence of collaborative working, a delivery-focused mindset, and excellent communication skills.
- Residency Requirement: You must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
