What is your current job title and in which location do you work?
I’m a Medical Advisor in Oncology based in Espoo, Finland.
What makes it special to work at your location? Please describe your workplace
We have a great multidisciplinary team in Finland and across NoBa. There’s such a strong team spirit because we all live the AstraZeneca values of following the science and putting patients first – we’re all passionate about being the scientific leaders in the development and delivery of life-changing medicines. I find it empowering to work with such innovative and engaged people every single day.
What does your job entail on a day-to-day basis?
As a Medical Advisor, I create and implement medical plans including medical pre-and after-launch strategies. I provide scientific information and support to healthcare providers and different stakeholders involved in our DNA damage response (DDR) scientific platform and products. I’m also involved in developing and leveraging Externally Sponsored Research proposals.
My day-to-day work includes discussions with healthcare providers and researchers relating to clinical trials, diagnostics and the science behind our medicines, including clinical research data. Internally, I work closely with our Franchise, Sales, Medical Information, Regulatory Affairs and Market Access teams, providing them with medical/scientific information relating to AstraZeneca products.
Tell me about your career journey in AstraZeneca
I joined AstraZeneca in December 2017. I previously worked as a Senior Scientist in R&D and drug development, and as a Senior Scientist & Co-supervisor of PhD students in an academic institution focusing on personalized medicine and cancer treatment.
How do you feel about being part of an organization that is pushing the boundaries of science to deliver life-changing medicines?
There hasn’t been a single day that I haven’t felt that our work was really worthwhile. Being a part of something that can bring help to patients in need is truly rewarding.
