How long have you worked at AstraZeneca and What do you like most about your job?
Over 3 years and I enjoy customer service and the visibility of site performance metrics
What do you like to do when you aren’t working?
Music, food, spending time with my girls and husband.
Fun fact about you that people may not know?
I love Barry Manilow! I was born in the Caribbean and the music genre is quite different; overall I love music but specially old music based on my parents influence on both Spanish and English language music over several decades (50s to 80s).
What’s your work/life balance experience been at AZ?
Work/life balance is working well for me at AZ. I mean, work/life balance is what you make of it and how you handle the shift of the balance. Sometimes you lean towards work-focus, and there are times when you can lean towards life-focus. My leaders empower me to decide on this balance, and make sure that I take care on both when it most matters.
How do you network with other women both inside and outside of AZ?
At work I engage my peer females through site initiatives (Diversity & Inclusion activities) and employee resource groups such as the Network of Women.
What would you like other women to know about joining AZ as a new employee?
AZ is not only a great place to work, but a safe place to work. As a female leader and employee, I feel appreciated, respected and safe to speak up, share diverse thinking and find myself included in different conversations that are shaping my work environment and the site’s culture. Diversity is celebrated in this company!
How do you feel AstraZeneca best supports your career as a female employee?
I feel AZ supports all employees and is truly behind ensuring the right person is in the right role. I believe that the company focuses on the employee and the value of that employee, rather than the gender or ethnicity of the employee, which is a great confidence.
What has been your favourite memory while at AstraZeneca?
The first time I experienced the International Potluck that FMC which is a beautiful display of ethnic diversity and food. This event has become my favourite since then.
