Meet the people of Immunology

Meet the people of the Immunology team here at AstraZeneca

Mina Makar

SVP Respiratory and Immunology US Commercial, Wilmington

"As the commercial SVP for AstraZeneca’s US Respiratory and Immunology therapy area, I’m excited for what’s to come in the immunology space because I believe there is an opportunity to do more and better for patients with immunological diseases. Respiratory remains a strategic priority for AstraZeneca and the foundation we are building off of to be successful in the immunology space. Our enduring Respiratory portfolio and successful launch capabilities in specialty care are now being parlayed into commercializing our burgeoning mid to late-stage pipeline in immunology. This includes five potential treatments and is a true testament to our unwavering belief in following the science – exploring how some of our respiratory medicines (including FASENRA) along with several new molecules can address significant unmet need within immunology. None of this would be possible without a team of outstanding and inspired individuals who work day in and day out to advance treatment options, partner with HCPs in meaningful ways and build relationships with patients to meet their needs. This is one of the most exciting times in my 20 year career with AstraZeneca!"

Micki Hultquist

Global Product Leader, Gaithersburg

"I believe I have the best job in the company! Leading the anifrolumab global product team means I lead a cross functional team accountable for getting anifrolumab to patients. Over the 10 years I have been working on anifrolumab at AstraZeneca I have seen many ups and downs, but ultimately I believe in AZ’s commitment to Immunology and to anifrolumab. What motivates me, and the company, is the belief that the work we are doing is going to improve the lives of lupus patients forever."

Kathleen Bos

Director Physician, Field US

"There is such a high unmet need for effective treatments for lupus patients.  Many of these patients are young women whose disease profoundly impacts their lives and livelihoods.  As a rheumatologist, I am proud to work with a team dedicated to putting these people first in all that we do.   By helping to shape the development of trials and educational materials, I am furthering the understanding of the disease and the impact of new medicines in the treatment paradigms.  I am fortunate to not only work side by side with my AstraZeneca colleagues, but have the opportunity to speak and interact with experts and advocates in lupus from around the globe and the passion to fight this disease is universal.  There is tremendous support for AstraZeneca bringing a new treatment to lupus patient.   Being known and acknowledged for our innovation and success with biologic treatments across many therapeutic areas, serves as a foundation for future successful endeavors."

Brad Nohe

Global Commercial Team

"Not often in one’s career do you have the opportunity to help build a business from the ground up.  I have worked in immunology for over 15 years, but when I joined AstraZeneca’s global commercial organization working on anifrolumab I was especially excited by the chance to work on a potentially transformative medicine for lupus and other diseases that have had so little therapeutic advances in the past several decades.  I also sensed how I could help shape how AstraZeneca can emerge as a uniquely positioned leader in immunology.  More than any commercial role I previously had, I feel empowered to innovate and to do what’s right for the patient community."
