Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Network Automation Engineer responsible for developing IT network infrastructure automation solutions and standards that meet or exceed business performance expectations.

The role holder will be owning end to end product life / maturity cycle from Evaluation, Selection, Purchase, Design, Implement, Operate, Optimize and Retire.

This position will design, develop and deliver automation platforms, CI/CD pipeline to support deployment automation, day-two automation, and Network Reliability and Operation Functions.

The position is responsible for creating detailed solution designs and documentation that supports the development, implementation and operations of enterprise-class network used globally across AZ locations.

This role will support cross-departmental collaboration and internal communications with staff throughout the organization and service providers while promoting a positive work environment that supports consistency and drives efficiencies.


This role will work closely with the Network Reliability Engineering (NRE), Network Product Engineering and TSM teams, and multi-functional technology teams like Cyber Security, Cloud and Workplace Enterprise Services (WES) teams. Etc.

Scope  

  • Main objective is to develop and to manage the Network Analytics & Automation consulting practice with responsibility for resource skill development, implementation methods and tools, project delivery, utilization / bench management, financials, quality delivery of proposed solutions, and escalation management.

  • Develop critical practice artifacts such as discovery questionnaires, implementation work breakdown components and structures, estimating models, staffing plans, standardization on tools and the development of Best Practice outputs, service offerings, profit and loss.

  • Accountable for delivering on the Network analytics & Automation strategy (Reference architecture, Tool sets, Verticals, Use Cases, GTM artifacts).

  • Discover and analyze the drivers motivating the team to initiate their Network Automation & Analytics journey and present findings and observations.

  • Discover the current state of the AZ network infrastructure and Network Automation/analytics toolset & platform and present findings and observations related to readiness.

  • Work with the wider organization to develop the Network Automation & Analytics TCO / ROI analysis / and Funding requirements.

  • Assist in the development of internal communication plans to enable adoption.

The Main Responsibilities

  • Architecting, designing, and implementing next generation deployment architecture and automation and observability solutions

  • Network Architecture, Project Planning, Network Automation & Analytics. AIOps, Infrastructure as Code, Network Orchestration architecture.

  • Network Observability and design for automation systems enhancements, architecture level support for overall data structure and service modelling

  • Network Coding Development: Develop Network Automation Engineer scripts and code for various platforms using languages like Python, etc utilizing your expertise in Cisco and Ruckus technologies.

  • Automation Solutions: Design and implement automation solutions for network provisioning, configuration management, monitoring, and troubleshooting.

  • IaC Implementation: Promote and practice Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles, enabling network infrastructure to be defined, versioned, and managed through code.

  • Tool Expertise: Utilize tools such as Ansible, GitLab, and CI/CD pipelines to automate network tasks and streamline deployment processes.

  • Network Optimization: Identify and implement network optimizations and improvements, enhancing performance, security, and efficiency.

Network Automation Engineer Build and Execution Experience on Below:

  • Network planning and design, including scenario planning and inventory management.

  • Establish roadmap for automation efforts leveraging incident data and critical network assets to enhance troubleshooting workflows.

  • Provisioning of deployed physical devices and services and the deployment and provisioning of virtual devices

  • Collection of network data pertaining to devices, systems, software, network topology, traffic, and services in real-time

  • Analysis of data, including AI and ML predictive analytics, which delivers insights into current and future network behaviour.

  • Configuration compliance, which ensures that all the network devices and services are running as intended.

  • Updating software, including rollback of software if required

  • Closed-loop remediation of network issues, including troubleshooting and repair of insidious gray failures.

  • Provide insight into reports, dashboards, alerts, and alarms.

  • Integration experience with tools like Service Now, Splunk, etc

  • Implementing security compliance and auditing for deviation from defined standards / policies.

  • Monitoring the network and its services to ensure alignment with SLAs and customer satisfaction guarantees.

  • Identifying cross functional dependencies

  • Experience in sequencing the activities, scheduling the tasks, and preparing project plan.

  • Experience in planning and conducting vigorous network tests and generating a detailed test reports from performance, security, scale and resiliency point of view.

Looking ahead, networks of the future will be able to accomplish the following: 

  • AI and ML-driven networks that can learn the intent of network behaviours, deliver predictive analysis, and provide recommendations/remediations.

  • Implement automatic service placement and service motion.

  • Use advanced probing technology to actively monitor service assurance and adjust traffic flows based on service requirements.

  • Provide specific upgrades based on configured services.

  • Operate autonomously, with active monitoring and reporting provided to network operators to ensure that network performance and behaviours remain aligned to business goals.

Requirements

  • DevNet Professional/Associate or equivalent certification with Minimum 10 years of experience developing software in a large enterprise IT environment (preferably network services)

  • 10+ years of hands-on Analytics and Data Driven Enterprise Application development, preferable in network domain.

  • TOGAF or equivalent and ITIL certifications are added advantage.

  • Proficiency in programming in Ansible or Python and willingness to learn and adopt new languages as necessary.

  • Experience in building AI-Ops framework leveraging existing tool set like Itential, NetBrain, etc.

  • Understands WAN, switch, router configurations and software defined networks in general.

  • Understanding of system protocols, how systems operate and data and traffic flows.

  • Up to date on current and emerging technology tools and their benefits

  • Ability to independently develop a full software stack, understand the building blocks, interactions, dependencies, and tools required to complete software and automation.

  • Good sense of user interaction and usability design to provide an intuitive, seamless end user experience.

  • Excellent communications skills and the ability to work with subject matter experts to extract critical business concepts.

  • Ability to work and potentially lead in an Agile methodology environment.

  • Confident presenter who likes to get in front of stakeholders or any audience to espouse their and the company’s technology vision and the merits of products and services.  

  • Demonstrated working experience of matrix and multicultural teams over several continents. 

  • Experience of formulating and implementing successful strategic plans in alignment with our security and sustainability strategy.  

  • Experience working with Senior IT leadership in a strategic context.  

  • Ability to build and maintain partnerships.  

  • Significant experience working with vendors, professional services, and providers. 

  • Agile Enterprise mentality.

  • Understanding of network patterns and approaches 

  • Bring Automation first mindset.

  • Candidate with large enterprise working experience is an added advantage.
