Role overview

We are seeking a Payroll Specialist based at our Guadalajara site to join Global Business Services (GBS). This role supports end-to-end payroll operations for Mexico, partnering with local HR, Finance, and external payroll providers to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely processing while delivering an exceptional employee experience.

Must-have qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree inAccounting,Economics, orBusiness Administration.
  • Experience: Proven, hands-on experienceprocessing Mexican payrollend-to-end (inputs, reconciliations, payments, statutory submissions). Experience must include compliance withIMSS, INFONAVIT, SAT/ISR.
  • Language:Advanced English—capable of leading and participating in business conversations and collaborating inglobal teams; not limited to reading and writing.

Key responsibilities

  • Payroll processing (Mexico): Prepare and validate payroll inputs (base pay, variable compensation, overtime, deductions), reconcile outputs, and support payment execution in alignment with IMSS, INFONAVIT, SAT regulations.
  • Data integrity & controls: Maintain accurate employee data, execute pre-/post-payroll reconciliations, and support SOX/internal control activities with audit-ready documentation.
  • Compliance & statutory reporting: Compile statutory reports, tax filings, and social security submissions; track changes in local legislation and escalate impacts.
  • Vendor & stakeholder coordination: Liaise with external payroll providers and banking partners; collaborate with HR, Finance, and HRIS teams to resolve issues and meet cutoffs.
  • Employee experience & case management: Respond to payroll inquiries via ticketing systems with clear, empathetic communication and timely resolution.
  • Month-end activities: Assist with payroll journals, GL reconciliations, and payroll accruals in collaboration with Finance.
  • Confidentiality & security: Handle sensitive payroll data per GDPR, local laws, and company policies.

Required qualifications

  • Technical skills: Familiarity with payroll systems (SAP, Workday) and intermediate Excel (lookups, pivot tables, reconciliations).
  • Knowledge: Solid understanding of Mexican payroll concepts and statutory rules (IMSS, INFONAVIT, ISR).
  • Communication: Strong communication skills in English and Spanish (see must-haves for English level).
  • Detail orientation: High accuracy, organization, and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Integrity: Demonstrated commitment to confidentiality, compliance, and ethical conduct.
