Introduction to role:

Are you ready to turn complex R&D workflows into simple, trusted digital experiences that accelerate the delivery of life-changing medicines? Can you bridge the language of science and technology to shape solutions that researchers rely on every day?

Join us to lead the evolution of our in-house human biological samples request and approval platform, a critical capability enabling discovery teams to work faster and with confidence. You will partner closely with colleagues across Early Oncology and BioSamples and work end-to-end—from discovery of needs through delivery and adoption—to drive measurable productivity gains and better ways of working.

This is a hands-on role with real impact. You will own the continuous improvement of a regulated, business-critical solution, ensuring it is intuitive for users, compliant by design, and aligned with our scorecard objectives. You will help define how we scale the platform, inform data-driven decisions, and shape how science meets digital inside our labs.

Accountabilities:

  • Requirements Evolution: Lead the business-as-usual cycle for refining and prioritizing platform requirements, translating research and operational needs into clear, testable user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Process Design and Use Cases: Produce high-quality use cases and business process maps that simplify how sample requests and approvals flow, reducing friction and cycle time for researchers.
  • Quality and Compliance Assurance: Ensure all changes and solutions meet established quality, validation, and compliance standards, operating confidently in a GxP environment.
  • User Acceptance and Adoption: Orchestrate user acceptance testing, feedback loops, and release readiness; craft concise communications and training that accelerate adoption and deliver value on day one.
  • Stakeholder Partnership: Build strong relationships across science and technology stakeholders, aligning the roadmap to scorecard goals and functional priorities while managing expectations across a global context.
  • Platform DevOps Collaboration: Work as part of a platform DevOps team to guide delivery sequencing, ensure traceability from requirement to release, and enable continuous improvement through telemetry and insights.
  • Data Stewardship and Value: Champion data clarity and usability, informing data models and integrations to maximize the value of information across the end-to-end R&D journey.
  • Outcome Measurement: Define success metrics and track benefits to demonstrate how enhancements drive productivity, compliance, and user satisfaction, informing future investment decisions.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Technical, Science or Business degree
  • Minimum 5+ years business analysis experience working with integrated systems (COTS or in-house bespoke developed solutions)
  • Understanding of data and how to manage and utilize it to maximize its value
  • Demonstrable experience of successfully deploying a variety of business analysis tools/techniques to enable business change
  • Engagement, communication and analysis skills across stakeholders in both Science and IT in a global organisation with complex geographical context
  • Accomplished at virtual collaboration with global matrixed teams to lead, shape and develop requirements
  • Experience of developing analysis plans
  • Experience of working in a regulated environment and to GxP validation standards
  • Excellent influencing and negotiation skills
  • Practical usage of Agile methodology and tools (for example, JIRA)

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Pharmaceutical experience/understanding of the Human Biological Samples and Biobanking business domain
  • Formal certification in business analysis practices
  • Lean Six Sigma training
  • Experience of data modelling and data migration
  • User Centred Design (User Experience, User Interface Design and Business Process Design)
  • Cross-industry business awareness/business domain knowledge
  • Experience of working with third-party suppliers/vendors
