Regional Sales Director, US NF1 PN, West

Introduction to the Role:

Are you ready to lead and encourage a team dedicated to making a difference in the lives of patients with rare diseases? As the Regional Sales Director, you will be responsible for improving revenue by driving sales activity and providing leadership to the NF1 PN Rare Disease Specialist field force in your regional area. This person will be responsible for the implementation of Alexion's sales and marketing programs, maintain effective communication with key partners, and report to the Executive Director, Head of Sales U.S. NF1 PN. Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

  • Driving outstanding sales performance to ensure regional and territory sales forecasts are met or exceeded. Effectively mentoring the use of assigned resources to drive therapeutic and territory expectations. Working with RDS’s to customize discussions and HCP interactions based on individual needs
  • Maintaining a current understanding of local market, practice structures, business models, and key influencers. Anticipating future changing dynamics/emerging trends that could impact regional business. Routinely and proactively shares such information with relevant Alexion partners (e.g., Sales and Commercial Leaders.)
  • Resolving and efficiently prioritizing resources across Region. Leading RDS Team to identify and select programs/resources available and appropriate for each customer, practice, and/or system.
  • Lead team to develop new accounts and expand existing accounts through increased breadth and depth in line with the Brand strategy.
  • Regularly applying a variety of analytical tools to understand and evaluate the business to best resolve how to lead and mentor to accomplish sales objectives and apply resources such as HCP educational programs.
  • Develop a local business plan that ensures achievement of goals and sales objectives. Ensuring appropriate planning to drive effective strategy and track progress against plans regularly course correcting where required.
  • Attracting, Retaining and Developing High Performing RDS’s that consistently deliver results and demonstrate behaviors aligned to Alexion’s cultural values.
  • Conducting regular field visits and business reviews, providing regular feedback following customer and field visits that address and support both business/career development, and performance management needs.
  • Building and maintaining relationships and regular communication with physicians and key leaders.
  • Ensuring a high level of Business Insight and customer service is delivered to all customers!
  • Regular input to the MeTa+ BU regarding the US Brand Strategy for Alexion products.
  • Conducting regular business reviews with the ESD and VP/Business Unit Lead of the MeTa+ Business Unit to ensure attainment of corporate sales objectives, alignment of goals, and personal development plans of team.
  • Acting with integrity in compliance with laws, internal policies and Code of Ethics and Business Conduct, is a role model to the team.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Degree in life science and/or business/marketing
  • 10+ years biopharmaceutical industry experience with consistent track record of Sales, Performance Management, and Employee Development
  • 2+ years minimum experience with consistent success in Oncology, Rare disease, or Institutional Specialty products
  • Demonstrated strong history of leadership and partnership that has resulted in significant accomplishments within an organization.
  • Broad cross-functional experience in other commercial roles, such as Marketing, Sales Operations, Medical, National/Corporate Accounts, Managed Markets, Hospital Markets, etc.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving
  • Ability to travel within US on a regular basis which may include overnight and/or weekend travel.
  • Ability to work comfortably in a clinical setting; use a computer, engage in communications, problem solve; engage in complex and non-linear thought, analysis, and dialogue; collaborate with others; maintain general availability during standard business hours

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Advanced or Master’s degree
  • Experience in Biopharma
  • Experience in Biopharmaceutical industry experience with proven track of Sales leadership
  • Experience leading high performing sales field teams strongly preferred
  • Experience in Oncology sales and/or orphan drug sales and launch experience preferred
  • Exposure and/or experience in other functional areas of the business (e.g., Sales training, Sales operations, Managed care, and Marketing)

The annual base pay for this position ranges from$176,864.80 - $265,297.20 USD.Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.  In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
