Based within AstraZeneca’sBioPharmaceuticalsR&D division, thePublications Operations teamis responsible forthe management of the enterprise-wide Publications Management System (iEnvision), overseeing data management and reporting, delivering training to ensure procedural compliance, and coordinating the review and approval of scientific publications prior to external dissemination.

The Operations & Reporting Managerpartners with the Product Owner to ensure theiEnvisionPublications Management System is well specified, documented, and continuously improved, while transforming operations data into actionable insights. In this role, you will translate business needs into clear user stories and acceptance criteria, coordinate configuration cycles and releases, lead user acceptance testing (UAT), triage support tickets, andmaintaincurrent workflow documentation. 

In parallel, you will support the Data & Reporting Lead by designing andmaintaininguserfriendlyPower BI reports and dashboards, automating routine reporting tasks, and strengthening data quality, governance, and compliance across thepublicationslifecycle.

Key responsibilities

  • Support ticket triage:Monitor and triage tickets; perform initial analysis and reproduction steps; route issues to theappropriate teams(e.g., vendor, system administration); track SLAs and priorities; and drive issues to resolution with clear communications androotcausesummaries.
  • Backlog and user story management:Support the Product Owner in eliciting requirements; write and refine user stories with clear acceptance criteria andnonfunctionalrequirements; andmaintainaprioritised, traceable backlog.
  • UAT planning and execution:Contribute to UAT strategy; create test plans, scenarios, and scripts linked to user stories; coordinate stakeholder testers; execute tests; capture defects; andvalidatefixes prior to releasesignoff.
  • Stakeholder engagement:Facilitateworkshops; capture decisions, risks, and dependencies; prepare materials for governance forums; and deliver training and release notes for end users.
  • Data quality and compliance:Monitor quality checks and validation rules; ensure changesalignwith compliance, audit, and privacy requirements relevant to publications management.
  • Process and workflow documentation:Map andmaintainendtoendbusiness and technical workflows; ensure version control and change logs are current and auditable.
  • Data modeling and maintenance:Support the Data & Reporting Lead in designing, implementing, andmaintaininglogical data models that underpin reporting and analytics, ensuring consistency, scalability, and data quality.
  • Power BI development:Design and develop Power BI reports and dashboards, including layouts, visuals, and data transformations using Power Query; createwellstructuredDAX measures to support robust analytics.
  • Scalable analytics solutions:Build coherent, scalable reporting solutions that addresscrossfunctionalneeds and promote reuse of datasets and definitions.
  • Continuous improvement and metrics collection:Partner with the Data & Reporting Lead to define a KPI framework,establishdata sources and refresh cadence,validatemetrics with stakeholders,monitortrends, and drive continuous improvement actions.

Requirements

  • Experience:3+ years’ experienceoperatingautonomously in a demanding environment, working with BItoolsand supporting enterprise SaaS or workflow systems.
  • Organization & Judgment: proven ability toanalyseand process information, manage time effectively,organisework, andmaintainconfidentiality
  • Communication:strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Operational delivery:ability to translate business needs into requirements, plan and execute UAT, manage defects, and coordinatecrossfunctionalstakeholders through release cycles.
  • Ticket management:handsonexperience triaging application issues, performing structuredrootcauseanalysis, and communicating clearly with users and vendors.
  • Documentation:ability to createprocess maps, data flow diagrams, and configuration guides, with disciplined version control and traceability.
  • Collaboration: ability to work effectively with diverse teams and to manage andprioritisemultiple projects from conception to completion in afastpacedenvironment; flexibility to adapt to changing deadlines and priorities; openness to learning new tools and technical solutions.
  • Power BI capability:practical experience building reports and dashboards, including creating measures, performing basic data modeling, and using Power Query for data cleansing and shaping.
  • Tools:proficiencywith backlog/ticketing tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow) and documentation tools (e.g., Confluence, Visio, Miro); strong Excel skills.

Desirable requirements

  • Understanding of the scientificpublicationlifecycle and compliance considerations.
  • Experience withiEnvisionor similar publications/medical affairs platforms and collaboration with vendors for configuration and releases.
  • Basic SQL 
  • Awareness of data governance and privacy standards relevant to scientific publications.
