Make data matter in global clinical finance!
Are you a finance professional with a passion for systems, data governance, and driving high‑quality decision making? Do you enjoy working at the intersection of business and IT, shaping how data is defined, governed, and trusted across a global organization?
At AstraZeneca, we’re looking for an ABACUS Data Manager to play a pivotal role in the continued evolution of ABACUS – our Oracle‑based Clinical Trial Cost Management solution supporting global reporting, accruals, budgeting, and forecasting.
Following a successful go‑live in 2025, ABACUS is entering its next major phase, including full functional delivery (Release 4) and future system expansion (Release 5). This is a high‑impact opportunity to shape data foundations that enable accurate financial insight across R&D.
As the Data Manager for ABACUS, you will be the single point of contact for master data governance and data quality, partnering closely with Finance, IT, and the Global Data Office.
Key responsibilities include:
Data Governance & Standards
Own and enforce master data standards and governance for ABACUS
Act as the primary interface between business users and IT for all ABACUS master data topics
Maintain comprehensive documentation (standards, RACI, data glossary, training materials)
Represent the ABACUS data domain in cross‑system governance forums
Lead data readiness activities for upcoming ABACUS releases and SAP S/4HANA integration
Take a leading role in shaping upcoming Releases 4 & 5, owning data readiness for full functionality drop and system expansion into new functional areas
Data Quality & Integrity
Define and document data quality rules and assurance methods
Monitor, report, and resolve data quality issues across P&L and balance sheet reporting
Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance data accuracy and reliability
Enable self‑service data quality checks and reporting best practice
Change Management & Collaboration
Govern master data change requests end‑to‑end (triage, approval, deployment)
Coordinate impacts across upstream and downstream systems
Partner closely with BAU master data teams, SAP S/4HANA program and R&D Finance stakeholders
Organize and lead working groups, governance forums, and stakeholder sessions
What we’re looking for
Essential
Degree (or equivalent experience) in Finance, Business Administration, Data / Information Science, Informatics, Economics, or similar
Strong understanding of data governance, data quality frameworks, and financial data
Experience with finance and R&D data objects (e.g. cost categories, milestones, GL, studies, projects/WBS)
Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills
Proven ability to work independently, proactively, and with strong attention to detail
Strong technical expertise in Oracle‑based solutions (incl. SmartView) and ServiceNow
Fluent English (written and verbal)
Nice to have
ABACUS knowledge
SAP S/4HANA knowledge and hands‑on experience
Exposure to regulated environments
Interest in automation, AI, and modern data solutions
