ABOUT THE MARKET ACCESS TEAM
Our Market Access team plays a crucial role in creating and expanding patient access to AstraZeneca medicines across therapeutic areas. We act as connectors, bringing together the healthcare ecosystem through policy shaping, partnerships, stakeholder engagement, sharing innovative value stories about our science-led medicines, and co-creating innovative payor solutions. We help transform healthcare and, most importantly, improve and save lives through innovation.

What You will do
You partner with cross-functional teams and external partners to prepare new medicine launches, ensuring that AstraZeneca’s life-changing medicines reach as many patients as possible. You are part of a dynamic group that lays the groundwork for Pricing, Reimbursement, and Patient Access. This role reports to the Market Access and Government Affairs Director and is field based.
Key Responsibilities:
Engaging in scientific discussions with Funders at Medical Aid Schemes, Medical Aid Scheme Administrators, and Managed Healthcare Organizations for optimal reimbursement through evidence-based decision-making.
Identifying evidence requirements and utilizing clinical trials to support the value story.
Building relationships with key players and their influencers through one-on-one and group scientific engagements.
Participating in relevant Scientific Society meetings, industry meetings, and funder meetings and providing feedback to cross-functional teams regarding trends in diagnosis, monitoring, and treatments in the therapeutic area.
Communicating product value using health economics tools, such as Health Technology Assessments and Innovative Value Solutions, while building solid value arguments supported by health economic including budget impact, cost effectiveness and cost consequence analysis.
Developing comprehensive health technology assessments, to highlight the clinical, cost, and affordability value-proposition of AstraZeneca products.
Providing timely scientific and access-related information to help healthcare professionals navigate the reimbursement landscape.
Gathering insights to overcome access barriers and enhance access enablers to.
Engaging and partnering with policymakers to strengthen the South African healthcare system and enhance access.
To ensure that selected BioPharma & Immunology products are readily available through the removal of reimbursement hurdles and to identify access expansion opportunities.
Develop & maintain scientific expertise of company products and related therapeutic areas.
Keep abreast of cutting-edge research and literature in respective therapeutic areas.
Support commercial field teams in addressing reimbursement or access challenges.
Develop strategies and tools to enable the early identification of eligible patients for AZ products.
Funder Engagement and scientific support for BioPharma Rare Diseases & Immunology products.
Scientific Ambassador to achieve competitive advantage and expand access to treatment through increased reimbursement.
Interpretation and the tailoring of available evidence to support funding of AZ brands in collaboration with the medical division.
Establishing sustainable stakeholder relationship based on scientific rigor and integrity with Medical Aid Schemes; Medical Aid Scheme Administrators; Drug Formulary Committees; Patient Advocacy Groups; Patient Access Programs and Patient Support Programs, amongst others.
Capability Building for stakeholders to establish funding and/or increased access to treatment.
Developing Clinical Reimbursement Dossiers and other tools for clinical engagements with stakeholders for funding purposes.
Foster Collaboration between Academia, HCP’s, Funders and Guideline Associations.
Obtain feedback and funding advice on AZ Brands through peer-to-peer interactions and/or Access Advisory Boards.
Attend and actively participate in relevant working groups at Industry Associations.
Responsible to promptly collect and report any adverse events and product quality complaints received from any source. All such cases must be documented accurately and submitted to the designated department within one business day of becoming aware of the information, ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
Responsible for completing Adverse Event training during initial onboarding and then annually thereafter.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Must have a completed Degree
Must have 2 years or more experience in Market Associate, Commercial, Commex or Medical role.
Experience with Analytics/ Numbers/ Project Management/ Stakeholder Management
Pharma Industry Experience is essential
