AstraZeneca Bulgaria is seeking a dynamic and visionary Disease Area Lead – Gyn/GU Oncology to drive the strategic and operational success of one of our most impactful oncology franchises. About the Role

As Disease Area Lead, you will own the strategic direction, commercial performance and lifecycle success of the Gyn/GU Oncology franchise within the Bulgarian market. You will lead a team of Brand Managers and Key Account Managers, ensuring cohesive cross‑functional collaboration and delivering innovative, patient‑centred solutions that truly matter.

This role blends strategic leadership, scientific insight, commercial excellence and people development — all within a fast‑moving, purpose‑driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Commercial Leadership

  • Shape and execute strategic and tactical commercial plans for the franchise.

  • Lead forecasting, market analysis, pricing and reimbursement strategy.

  • Develop innovative brand plans grounded in deep patient‑journey understanding.

  • Identify growth opportunities and anticipate market shifts.

  • Oversee launches and line extensions in alignment with global and cluster strategies.

  • Manage franchise budgets and ensure optimal resource allocation.

Marketing Excellence

  • Translate patient and market insights into competitive marketing strategies.

  • Build and maintain strong external relationships across the oncology ecosystem.

  • Inspire teams to innovate and challenge the status quo.

Sales Leadership

  • Set and deliver sales targets and operational KPIs.

  • Partner with KAMs to prioritise strategic accounts and develop tailored engagement plans.

  • Monitor performance to ensure profitability and franchise growth.

People Leadership

  • Lead, coach and develop Brand Managers and KAMs, building a high‑performing team.

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, inclusion, learning and ethical behaviour.

  • Manage manpower costs and ensure alignment with AZ people policies.

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure full compliance with AZ Code of Ethics, policies and external regulations.

  • Promote a culture of openness, accountability and ethical conduct.

  • Ensure team members complete all required training and adhere to standards.

What We’re Looking For

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • University degree in Medicine, Pharmacy or Life Sciences.

  • Experience in an innovative pharmaceutical company.

  • Oncology and/or oncology brand management experience.

  • Strong cross‑functional collaboration background.

  • Ability to integrate scientific knowledge with insights to build patient‑centred strategies.

  • Proven leadership of smaller project teams.

  • Strong stakeholder engagement in complex clinical environments.

  • Ability to set strategic goals, lead forecasting and manage budgets.

  • Experience coaching and developing KAMs.

  • Excellent communication, strategic thinking and negotiation skills.

  • Proficiency in English and MS Office; valid driving licence.

Desirable

  • Experience in omnichannel/digital marketing.

  • People leadership experience.

  • Sales or sales management background.

  • Personal attributes such as learning agility, resilience, collaboration and patient focus.
