The Biologics Program Management Office (PMO) supports Global Biologics Operations (GBO) strategy delivery through ground-breaking projects, program and portfolio planning, execution, delivery and benefit realization using the right methodology, tools and expertise.

What you´ll do

As our Director of Strategy & Program Management Office (PMO) for Biologics Operations you will be part of the development, deployment, and governance of the biologics operations strategy and project portfolio across the global network. You will leverage PMO capability and capacity to ensure delivery excellence for technical transfers, new product and market launches, supply establishments, and other critical network initiatives, and drive prioritization that aligns resources to the most important outcomes.

You will partner with senior leaders across Global Biologics Operations, Supply Chain, BPD, GTO, and site leadership to translate strategic intent into executable roadmaps, mobilize cross-functional teams, and track benefits realization. You will establish and run robust portfolio governance, embed change management and communications, and build team capability while maintaining compliance and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. In this role you will report to Senior Director PMO and Strategy.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop and refresh the multi-year biologics operations strategy; translate it into portfolios, programs, and site/network roadmaps with clear OKRs and KPIs. Lead annual objective setting and scorecard cadence
  • Lead or oversee critical programs (technical transfers, new product/market launches, supply establishments, capability builds) to deliver on-time, on-budget outcomes. Coordinate multi-site and partner activities; proactively resolve roadblocks, manage interdependencies, and escalate decisions effectively
  • Manage portfolio-level resourcing and prioritization; align equipment, materials, services, and funding to the total workload. Build robust business cases and track benefits realization (e.g., supply reliability, cycle time, cost, capacity); apply scenario planning and ROI/NPV analysis
  • Embed organizational change management; craft executive narratives and stakeholder plans to accelerate adoption and sustain outcomes. Facilitate cross-functional forums; provide transparent updates to senior leadership and key stakeholders
  • Ensure adherence to the AZ Code of Conduct, Project Management Framework, and relevant Policies and Standards; maintain compliance with cGMP and regulatory expectations in program delivery. Lead risk management across the portfolio; maintain issue logs and mitigation plans; drive lessons learned and continuous improvement
  • Support the Senior Director of Strategy & PMO in building a high-performing Strategy & PMO team; develop and coach peers and indirect reports; drive a lean mindset and problem-solving culture. Foster a networked way of working across sites and functions; cultivate strong relationships with internal and external partners

Essentials for the role

  • Bachelor’s in science, Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or related field
  • 8–10+ years’ experience in strategy execution and program/project management; 4–6+ years leading cross-functional teams
  • 2–5+ years in management consulting or equivalent internal strategy role
  • Ability to convert strategy into portfolios/roadmaps, govern priorities, and drive measurable outcomes
  • Track record delivering complex, multi-site initiatives (tech transfer, launches, supply)
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and executive communications
  • Budget ownership and business case/ROI analysis
  • Lean mindset; continuous improvement
  • Working knowledge of biologics operations and cGMP
  • Build high-performing teams; executive presence; influence across a matrix

Desirables for the role

  • MBA, MS, or PhD
  • PMP/Prince2, PgMP, Lean Six Sigma, Prosci/ACMP
  • Experience with CDMOs, GxP, FDA/EMA expectations
  • Power BI/Tableau; PM tools (MS Project/Smartsheet); Think-cell
  • Experience standing up or maturing PMOs; organization design
  • Led programs across multiple sites/countries
  • Executive narrative and change communications
  • Recognized expertise or publications
