Medical Affairs Manager
Role description
- Lead a high-impact Field Medical team (Lung Cancer) to deliver enhanced patient outcomes with AstraZeneca's innovative medicines, prioritizing company strategy and local healthcare ecosystem transformation. Drive excellence in execution of Medical Affairs strategic plans through field-based scientific engagement and evidence generation, ensuring deep understanding of stakeholder needs and healthcare challenges. Operate as both a manager and coach, fostering an environment of continuous learning, innovation, and operational excellence while leveraging digital technologies to inform both internal strategies and external engagements. Act as the strategic lead for integrated engagement—gathering actionable insights and advancing clinical practice transformation—while maintaining full compliance with internal standards, policies, and external regulations.
Typical Accountabilities
- Team Leadership: Recruit, develop, and coach a high-performing field medical team, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Performance Management: Set clear metrics for team effectiveness, drive operational excellence, and review individual and team capabilities regularly.
- Strategic Alignment: Ensure field medical activities align with Medical Affairs strategic plans and portfolio priorities, supporting impactful clinical practice transformation.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Guide the team to gather insights, engage stakeholders with scientific expertise, and communicate complex information clearly and effectively.
- Compliance & Ethics: Uphold AstraZeneca’s Code of Conduct, reinforce compliance with all regulatory and company standards, and ensure required training completion.
- Operational Excellence: Oversee team financial resources, ensure accurate and timely reporting, and leverage technology for data-driven decision making.
- Collaboration: Work closely with internal cross-functional teams to provide input on medical strategy and communicate progress, value, and impact of Medical Affairs activities.

Qualifications
- Education: Master’s degree or higher in a scientific discipline (medicine, pharmacy, life sciences, or related field). Preferred: Doctoral degree (MD, PhD, PharmD).
- Language: Korean (fluent, native), English (fluent)
- Work Experience: 5 year+ hands-on experience in medical affairs within the pharmaceutical industry, including team management and cross-functional collaboration. Preferred: People manager experience.
- Competencies
- Healthcare Systems Knowledge: Deep understanding of healthcare ecosystem dynamics, legislation, and therapeutic areas relevant to AstraZeneca portfolio.
- Research Expertise: Experience in clinical or pre-clinical research and evidence generation activities.
- Compliance Knowledge: Thorough familiarity with codes of conduct, company policies, pharmaceutical guidelines, and local regulatory requirements.
