Position Summary

This Scientist position within the Cell Therapy Enterprise group will be involved in the characterization of apheresis and/or product material from ongoing CAR- and TCR-based clinical trials and process development. This individual will be responsible for designing and performing experiments, organizing and analyzing results, and communicating and presenting findings to the immediate team and broader organization. This is a on-site, hands-on position based in Santa Monica, CA.  

This role requires at least 80% on-site presence in Santa Monica, as well as occasional availability on weekends, holidays, and evenings. 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities 

  • Execute in vitro assays to evaluate T-cell  phenotype and function. 

  • Provide support in writing and reviewing reports and/or data verification during regulatory filings and/or amendments. 

  • Analyzes, organizes, and communicates results at different research and cross-functional meetings. 

  • Participates in project teams and works cross-functionally to ensure alignment. 

  • Assist in other duties as required to meet corporate goals. 

Required Skills/Abilities

  • A strong background in cancer immunotherapy and human immunology – experience in working with engineered T cells and/or clinical trial samples is strongly preferred. 

  • Proficient in cell culture aseptic techniques. 

  • Hands-on expertise in T-cell functional characterization assays to measure in vitro cytotoxicity, proliferation, and cytokine/chemokines. 

  • Proficient in multi-parameter flow cytometry (panel design, sample acquisition, data processing). 

  • Proficient in the analysis and understanding of immune cells and functions.  

  • Strong organizational and record keeping skills.  

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are essential in this collaborative work environment. 

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced company environment and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities. 

  • Self-motivated and willing to accept temporary responsibilities outside of initial job description. 

Education and Experience

  • Master’s (+ 0-2 years lab experience), or Bachelor’s (+ 3-5 years lab experience) degree in immunology, cellular and/or tumor biology. Lab experience related to T-cell biology and/or working with clinical trial samples is highly desirable. 

  • Industry experience is preferred. 

  • Well-versed in cell culture aseptic techniques, multi-color flow cytometry (9+ colors), MSD, and other cellular assays. 

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational, record keeping, and problem-solving skills. 

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are necessary in this collaborative work environment. 

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced company environment and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities. 

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $90,960.80 to $136,441.20. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles).
