About Enterprise FP&A

The Enterprise FP&A team leads company-wide planning, forecasting, decision support, and finance operations for Alexion’s corporate center functions. We provide an enterprise view of financial performance to the Leadership Team, support the CFO in delivering targets, and partner extensively with Commercial, R&D, Operations, and Enabling Functions. We own corporate management reporting and the Annual Business Cycle (Mid- and In-Year budgeting and forecasting), working closely with AstraZeneca Group Finance to establish robust guidelines, timelines, and standards.

Role Profile

The Finance Manager, Enterprise FP&A is a key member of the team reporting to the Associate Director of Enterprise FP&A. You will own consolidated budgets, monthly forecasts, and variance analysis across the Enterprise, deliver incisive insights and commentary to senior stakeholders, and drive standardization and simplification of reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enterprise Planning & Forecasting: Lead execution of In-Year and Mid-Term financial processes (e.g., RBUs/MTP, Phased Budget), ensuring timely and accurate submissions across stakeholders in Commercial Finance, Operations, R&D, and G&A.
  • Calendar & Standards: Maintain a robust Enterprise FP&A calendar; define presentation and consolidation standards aligned with Group requirements and tailored to RDU needs.
  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Partner closely with Global Financial Services (GFS) to align processes, timelines, and deliverables across planning and reporting cycles.
  • Management Reporting: Prepare periodic consolidated submissions; monitor performance vs. budget/forecast, investigate variances, and drive corrective actions with FP&A functional leads.
  • Reporting Excellence: Lead standardization and simplification of reporting across cycles; develop new reporting tools, dashboards, and data views to enable better decision-making.
  • AI Strategy & Implementation: Identify opportunities to leverage AI, machine learning, and advanced analytics to enhance forecasting accuracy, streamline reporting, improve decision support, and drive operational efficiency. Partner cross-functionally with Finance, IT, Data & Analytics, and business stakeholders to ensure scalable, compliant, and business-aligned AI adoption while promoting governance, data integrity, and responsible AI practices.
  • Data Integrity & Systems: Ensure data integrity across SAP, Anaplan, and BI tools (Power BI/Qlik); collaborate with Accounting, IT, and FP&A to resolve data anomalies and improve system design and controls.
  • Team Leadership (Dotted Line): Provide direction, coaching, and development for colleagues, including playing a key role in upskilling GFS analysts in partnering capabilities and RDU business knowledge.
  • Strategic Projects: Support ad-hoc analysis and special projects that enhance performance, process, or insight generation.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years in FP&A or Corporate Finance with demonstrated ownership of planning, forecasting, and variance analysis in a matrixed environment.
  • Communication & Influence: Outstanding ability to synthesize financial performance and deliver clear, executive-ready presentations to senior management.
  • Systems & Automation: Experience designing or enhancing reporting/data structures and automation; hands-on with SAP, Anaplan, Power BI, and/or Qlik.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced Excel modeling and PowerPoint; familiarity with financial accounting, planning, and reporting system design and functionality.
  • AI & Digital Enablement: Experience leveraging AI, automation, and advanced analytics tools to enhance financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and decision-making processes. Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for process optimization, partner with technical teams on AI-driven solutions, and drive adoption of emerging technologies while ensuring data integrity, governance, and business alignment.
  • Business Partnering: Proven ability to build strong relationships across functions and influence outcomes; comfortable operating in a global matrix with ambiguity.
  • Mindset: Self-starter with initiative, positive attitude, and continuous improvement orientation; strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
