What you’ll do
As the Baltic TA Medical Lead, R&I, you will set the strategic direction for AstraZeneca’s Respiratory, Immunology, Vaccines and Immune Therapies portfolio across the Baltics. You will lead medical and scientific strategy for prioritized indications, shape pre‑launch and launch excellence, direct evidence generation, and build impactful external partnerships. You will lead a customer‑facing medical team (Medical Advisors/Medical Science Liaisons) to deliver aligned local strategies, transform care initiatives, and optimize resources across three markets.
Key responsibilities
Strategic leadership
- Define and implement a comprehensive, innovative Medical Strategy and Plan for the R&I and V&I portfolio, aligned with global plans and Baltic priorities.
- Drive pre‑launch excellence, including Evidence Plans, and contribute to compelling value stories for brands and the TA.
- Lead cross‑functional strategy development and execution with Commercial, Market Access, Clinical, and other partners.
- Design and oversee External Stakeholder Engagement plans; cultivate high‑value relationships with external experts, scientific societies, and health decision‑makers.
External medical and scientific engagement
- Build and maintain scientific relationships with key external experts across all three Baltic countries.
- Lead Advisory Boards and scientific engagement activities; translate insights into strategy and plans.
- Lead medical communication and publication planning within the TA.
- Provide scientific and clinical input into RWE projects; ensure alignment across Baltic, EUCAN, and global teams.
- Embed a patient‑centric approach; foster strategic PAG engagements and stakeholder interactions to support patient access.
- Support early access programs where relevant.
- Ensure operational excellence across TA Medical Affairs activities.
Leadership and people development
- Lead, coach, and develop a high‑performing medical team.
- Oversee Medical Advisors/MSLs to ensure integrated, coordinated activities, sharing of best practices, and field excellence.
- Drive performance management, training, and talent development; ensure competence and compliance to legal and internal standards.
Your profile
- Advanced scientific degree (MD, PharmD, PhD or equivalent) preferred; relevant clinical or scientific background in Respiratory/Immunology advantageous.
- Significant Medical Affairs leadership experience in biopharma, including pre‑launch/launch and evidence generation.
- Proven success leading field medical teams and cross‑functional initiatives across multiple markets or countries.
- Strong external engagement track record with scientific leaders, societies, and health decision‑makers.
- Experience with RWE, medical communications, and publication planning.
- Strategic thinker with excellent execution, budget ownership, and resource optimization skills.
- High ethical standards and deep knowledge of compliance, regulations, and SOPs.
- Fluent in English; proficiency in a Baltic language is an advantage.
- Willingness to travel across the Baltics.
