As our Diagnostic Policy & Access Manager, you will set the long-term vision and integrated strategy for Diagnostics policy within the business unit, focusing on precision medicine, early screening initiatives, and advanced diagnostics innovation. You will also drive policy shaping, external stakeholder engagement, and capability building to maximize patient identification, access, and care across multiple therapy areas.

What you’ll do

  • Strategic Policy Leadership:
    Develop and direct a forward-thinking diagnostics policy strategy, prioritizing precision medicine, early screening, and future market opportunities above single therapy areas.

  • External Stakeholder Engagement:
    Build and sustain relationships with key external stakeholders, including MOH officials, pathologists, medical device regulatory agencies, laboratory and scientific professionals, pathology associations, payer representatives, HTA agencies, and industry coalitions.

  • Policy Advocacy & Tender Influence:
    Shape and influence national and local policies related to diagnostics, screening, testing tender processes, reimbursement, and registration for innovative diagnostic technologies.

  • Early Detection Advancement:
    Identify policy gaps and opportunities, advocate for and drive early detection strategies to facilitate expanded disease identification and patient reach in priority areas.

  • Building Partnerships & Sharing Best Practices:
    Lead collaboration with external partners, healthcare associations, and NGOs. Promote best practice sharing and proactively build alliances to drive system-level change and improve patient access.

  • Scientific & Regulatory Advisory:
    Leverage real-world data, health economics, and international best practices to inform policy arguments, evidence submissions, and technical dialogue with policy makers.

  • Regulatory Intelligence & Foresight:
    Monitor and analyze policy, regulatory, and legislative trends impacting diagnostics, screening, and therapies. Provide strategic recommendations to leadership.

  • Internal Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    Partner with medical, corporate affairs, market access, and commercial teams to develop and execute integrated early screening and diagnostics policy strategies.

  • Reputation & Advocacy Campaigns:
    Build AstraZeneca’s reputation as a partner of choice through high-impact advocacy campaigns, education, and policy initiatives.

Scope & Impact

  • Cross-Therapy Policy Strategy:
    Leads the development and implementation of diagnostics policy that spans multiple therapy areas, driving above-brand planning, external influence, and market transformation.

  • Expansion of Early Screening:
    Champions the design, policy shaping, and implementation of early screening programs to expand identification and access for patients, including areas like oncology, respiratory and rare disease.

  • External Advocacy and Transformation:
    Positions AstraZeneca as a trusted partner in healthcare system transformation, strengthening diagnostic reimbursement pathways, and driving integration of diagnostics in universal health coverage.

Essential for the role

  • Advanced degree (PhD, MD, MSc, or equivalent) in life sciences or related field.

  • 5+ years’ experience in diagnostics, health policy, external affairs, or medical device/early screening program leadership.

  • Proven track record in diagnostics policy shaping, external stakeholder influence, and early detection strategy development.

  • Strong knowledge of local and regional healthcare systems, reimbursement and regulatory environments.
