AstraZeneca, one of the world’s leading healthcare companies, is recruiting for a Communication Manager to take forward AstraZeneca’s Malaysia overall strategic communications. This critical role will be responsible to spearhead the planning and implementation of communication strategies that align with our commercial growth objectives and enhance our corporate reputation. This role will involve devising innovative approaches to optimize communication channels and messaging to drive strategic objectives effectively.

Reporting to the Head of Corporate Affairs, the role with be based in Malaysia and work as part of a cross-functional team and in partnership with local team and regional/international team to shape perceptions of AstraZeneca, building on its pandemic legacy and proactively shape our reputation in innovation, priority therapy areas and sustainability.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the corporate communication strategy to advance AstraZeneca’s reputation and maintains a positive corporate brand in Malaysia
  • Establish strategic annual plan for Malaysia Country President, identifying and targeting key communications platforms to build and enhance reputation
  • Manage and contribute to AstraZeneca’s reputation research to drive a positive reputation among key external and internal stakeholders
  • Lead Malaysia digital communication strategy and plan for creative, connected and disruptive digital and social media efforts, in line with global policy and guidelines
  • Drive the development and refresh of Malaysia corporate narrative and messaging, and support cross-functional team with the information, knowledge and tools for stakeholder relations
  • Develop and execute the corporate communication strategy and plan for priority therapeutic area and enterprise events
  • Support communication activities/plan for non-priority brand
  • Manage a suite of communications collaterals and tools such as corporate materials, other content and calendars
  • Identify and manage potential issues and develop issues management strategies
  • Forge and maintain a network of partnerships across the local and regional Corporate Affairs and cross-functional teams and other internal stakeholders, that ensures the local preparedness and proactive approaches to regional/international programmes
  • Own the communication to the business around the results/impact by leading on all communications reporting, measurement and evaluation partnering
  • Lead in communications measurement framework and tools consistent with regional reporting
  • Lead in maintaining and improvise AZ communication media handle for both internal or external – LinkedIn, AZ Malaysia Website, Workplace, enterprise email
    • Develop, execute and manage programmes, agencies, budgets and timelines for key projects and key launches
    • Collaborate with the regional Corporate Affairs to align on measurement and ensure an integrated and consistent approach

Qualifications

  • University degree required, preferably in journalism/communications, marketing, science or business
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a similar role at corporate or in the public sector,
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry including an understanding of the pharmaceutical healthcare industry in Malaysia is preferred
  • Experience working in a dynamic and matrix environment and an ability to think with a an enterprise mindset
  • Solution orientated, proactive and decisive by nature and resourceful in the approach. Able to manage complexity, multiple priorities, and programmes at the same time
  • Demonstratable ability to drive programmes/initiatives and influence business leaders and external stakeholders and move an agenda forward to resolution and action.
  • Deep understanding and experience with digital and social platforms including LinkedIn and Workplace
  • Strong experience in leading management of reputational risks, issues, and crisis, ensuring business preparedness
  • Demonstrable experience leading on reporting, measurement and evaluation of a PR/Communications team
  • Experience in managing budgets and schedules
  • Possess a high degree of integrity, professional maturity and sense of confidentiality
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong internal and external relationships at all levels
