This is what you will do:

This internship aims to teach the role of Medical Writing Operations in the pharmaceutical industry by familiarizing the intern with the integration of AI into medical writing. The intern will help adopt advanced technologies like GenAI to boost efficiency and effectiveness, working closely with professionals on projects to improve documentation processes and quality. This hands-on experience will enhance their skills and contribute to the MW department's efficiency.

Specifically, we are seeking individuals with the traits listed below:

  • Motivated self-starter who is detail-oriented and results-driven with a focus on effective and efficient improvements.

  • Willingness and ability to learn quickly the use of new technologies in Medical Writing.  

  • Organized individual with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high performance standards.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to work in a highly visible, deadline-oriented environment.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, comfortable working with a cross-functional and collaborative team.

You will be responsible for:

  • Assisting in the implementation and integration of advanced technologies into medical writing processesincluding

  • Generative AI

  • Structured Content Authoring

  • Natural Language Processing

  • Automation Tools

  • Developing and refining prompts to ensure fit-for-purpose GenAI outputs.

  • Gaining an understanding of business need and proposing solutions suitable for Medical Writing.

  • Working collaboratively with Alexion Medical Writing Operations and cross-functional teams to continuously improve processes.

  • Be involved in change management activities such as creating training materials, communications, and toolsfor writers using new processes and technology. 

  • Attending and actively participating in Medical Writing Operations and Innovation Project team meetings.

  • Providing an end-of-internship summary presentation.

You will need to have:

  • Experience with various MS Office programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio, Project, and PowerPoint. CoPilot experience is desirable.

  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English.

  • Ability to understand and interpret complex clinical, scientific, and statistical data and effectively communicate inaccuracies in technical documents to authors.

  • Ability to conduct thorough and accurate research, have logical organizational skills, and clear, readable writing.

  • Ability and desire to learn new techniques and best practices.

  • Good interpersonal, collaborative, and communication skills.

  • Attention to detail isa must.

  • Currently enrolled full-time in a graduate-level scientific or clinical program – Masters, MBA, PharmD, PhD, or equivalent.

  • The duties of this role are generally conducted in an office environmentAs is typical of an office-based role, employees must be able, with or without an accommodation to: use a computer; engage in communications via phone, video, and electronic messaging; engage in problem solving and non-linear thought, analysis, and dialogue; collaborate with others; maintain general availability during standard business hours. 

We would prefer for you to have:

  • Previous experience in clinical or technical writing.

  • Experience in clinical research or working with clinical regulatory documents

  • Experience with GenAI platforms (eg, CoPilot, ChatGPT)
