Position Summary
AstraZeneca India is seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager – Tender and Sales Order to Cash Process to lead our Tender and Order Operations team dedicated to government accounts across India. This leadership position is responsible for ensuring the seamless execution of all tender management and order-to-cash activities associated with the supply of pharmaceutical products to public sector clients. You will drive operational excellence, uphold compliance standards, and foster a high-performing team environment in alignment with AstraZeneca’s values and commitment to quality healthcare.
Key Responsibilities
The manager will be the operational anchor for government business transactions, managing both the tender lifecycle and the order-to-cash process. Key responsibilities will include end-to-end tender management, robust oversight of government contract execution, and full accountability for timely sales order management through to payment realization. The role requires close collaboration with commercial, supply chain, finance, regulatory, and external regulatory bodies.
Accountabilities
Provide strategic and operational leadership to the Tender Executives and Order Executives’ team, setting clear objectives and ensuring accountability for delivery.
Oversee the complete government tender process for pharmaceutical products, including evaluation of opportunities, bid strategy, dossier preparation, electronic submission, price negotiations, and contract finalization in full compliance with Indian public procurement norms and AstraZeneca internal policies.
Lead the order-to-cash process for all government business, including order receipt, validation, system entry, coordination with supply chain,and payment reconciliation to ensure timely fulfillment and revenue realization.
Maintain up-to-date expertise in Indian government procurement processes, tendering platforms (GeM, e-Procurement portals, state and central agencies), relevant legal frameworks, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Engage collaboratively with cross-functional teams—sales, finance, regulatory, logistics, and supply chain—to deliver on key performance indicators, proactively address process hurdles, and ensure customer satisfaction.
Monitor and report on team and process performance; analyse trends and recommend improvements to optimize process efficiency and compliance.
Uphold AstraZeneca’s standards for business integrity and compliance in all interactions with government agencies, fostering ethical practices and risk mitigation.
Drive process improvements, champion the adoption of digital tools and automation, and cultivate a mindset of continuous improvement within the team.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
Graduate or postgraduate degree in Science & Pharmacy.
At least 8 years of progressive experience in the Indian pharmaceutical industry, with demonstrable expertise in government tender management and sales order-to-cash operations.
Excellent understanding of the government procurement environment for pharmaceuticals in India—including policies, tender cycles, pricing mechanisms, contract management, and compliance requirements.
Strong leadership qualities with a track record of building high-performing teams and delivering operational results in a matrix organization.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP systems; familiarity with digital tendering, e-procurement platforms (such as GeM), and automated workflow tools preferred.
Effective communicator with strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Demonstrates integrity, resilience, and solution-oriented approach consistent with AstraZeneca’s values.
Reporting Structure
This role reports to the Lead- CoEx and Tender Operations, Public Channel Business.
