Senior Manager, US Sales Operations and Business Insights

This is what you will do:

The Senior Manager, US Sales Operations and Business Insights plays a key role in leading complex analytics and operational workstreams that support sales strategy and commercial execution for the aligned business unit. Reporting to the Director, US Sales Operations and Business Insights and working closely with the Associate Director, this role translates business priorities into actionable insights, business reviews, operational plans, and cross-functional initiatives that improve field execution and business performance.

This individual is responsible for owning major recurring deliverables and high-priority projects, providing evidence-based decision support to sales and commercial stakeholders, and driving cross-functional collaboration across Commercial Operations and partner teams. The role answers complex business questions at national and subnational levels, identifies trends and opportunities, and helps implement Commercial Operations capabilities, including AI-enabled solutions that improve analytical efficiency and field impact.

You will be responsible for:

Field Strategy and Sales Force Enablement

  • Serve as a strategic partner to Executive Sales Director(s), Regional Sales Directors, Business Unit leaders, and senior commercial stakeholders.

  • Lead complex analyses and recurring workstreams that support field sales strategy, execution, and performance management for the aligned business unit.

  • Partner with field sales and commercial stakeholders to identify business needs, assess performance trends, and develop actionable recommendations to strengthen execution.

  • Evaluate sales force execution and business performance drivers, translating findings into practical next best action recommendations for business stakeholders.

  • Support the Associate Director and commercial leadership in converting strategic priorities into measurable operational plans and insights deliverables.

Business Insights, Analytics, and Solution Delivery

  • Own and lead high-priority analyses of sales, activity, competitive market, and performance data to identify trends, opportunities, and risks.

  • Translate complex and at times ambiguous business questions into structured analytical approaches, insight narratives, and decision-ready recommendations.

  • Lead development of business reviews, dashboards, reports, and analytics tools that support field leaders, business unit partners, and commercial stakeholders.

  • Define business requirements for CRM, dashboard, and reporting enhancements, and partner with technical teams to drive effective delivery.

  • Lead design of AI-enabled use cases that improve insight generation, streamline manual processes, and strengthen field execution.

Cross-Functional Leadership and Operational Excellence

  • Lead cross-functional execution for assigned initiatives across Commercial Operations, data, reporting, CRM, MDM, and other partner teams.

  • Support business priorities, brand initiatives, and operational needs by ensuring that analytics and operational solutions are aligned to stakeholder requirements and delivered with high quality.

  • Implement standards and ways of working that improve consistency, role clarity, and compliant go-to-market execution.

  • Provide operational and analytical partnership for field-based stakeholders and help ensure that insights are translated into action.

Project Leadership, Collaboration, and Compliance

  • Lead multiple complex workstreams simultaneously, setting expectations, managing dependencies, and maintaining clear communication with stakeholders.

  • Build strong integration with Commercial Operations partners and ensure that the right stakeholders are engaged at key stages of work.

  • Provide guidance and, where appropriate, informal coaching to less experienced team members in support of high-quality deliverables.

  • Ensure that analyses, recommendations, and operational processes are conducted in a compliant manner and in line with AZ values and standards.

  • Use project management tools and structured ways of working to prioritize, track, and resource assigned initiatives.

You will need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.

  • 4+ years of experience in advanced analytics, business insights, reporting, sales operations, or related commercial functions, ideally within the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.

  • Deep knowledge of data manipulation, harmonization, and integration for analytics purposes.

  • Experience in user-centric dashboard design and development.

  • Experience building mockups, markups, and proofs of concept.

  • Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and drive outcomes across cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to identify data quality concerns, drive resolution, and improve reliability of analytical outputs.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills across multiple levels of the organization, including senior stakeholders.

  • Confidence in requirements gathering and stakeholder management across functions.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects independently and manage ambiguity effectively.

  • Ability to generate insight from complex and disparate data sources and translate findings into actionable business recommendations.

  • Broad experience and demonstrated skills including US market experience, project management, and strong written and verbal communication.

  • Experience with external data such as claims data, EMR, and third-party data.

  • Proven experience with CRM, alignment, and analytical applications.

  • Demonstrated capability to apply data literacy, prompt engineering, and systems thinking to advance sales operations and strategic insights, leveraging AI to reduce administrative burden, accelerate analysis, and translate market data into actionable go-to-market strategy.

  • Experience designing AI-enabled solutions and defining business requirements for how AI should analyze and interpret field-relevant data.

  • Ability to travel <10%.

  • Fluency in English, both written and oral.

  • The duties of this role are generally conducted in an office environment. We would prefer for you to have:

  • MBA or advanced degree in quantitative, business, or analytical discipline.

  • Prior experience in rare disease.

  • Experience in advanced analytics in healthcare, research/consulting, or pharmaceutical/biotech organizations.

  • Expertise in analytical tools such as SQL, Qlik, and Tableau.

  • Experience with MDM.

  • Statistical, regression, and other analytical skills.

  • Sales experience is a plus.

Annual base salary for this position ranges from 134,708.00 to 176,804.25.

The range provided in this posting represents an offer pay range used in a majority of situations. The base pay offered will vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including the candidate's skills and experience, job-related knowledge, and other specific business and organizational needs.  In some cases, offers outside the range may also be considered to address unique circumstances.
