R&D IT’s vision is to deliver the best science IT capabilities in biopharma, which we define as agile, responsive and fit-for-future. The desired effect of your role is to take accountability as a leader for delivering a ‘Best in Class’ IT experience within R&D IT.

Delivering the portfolio of projects and services needs people with hybrid skill sets covering technical, analytical, project management, service management and business analysis skills, combined with an excellent knowledge of finance as well as product and portfolio strategy processes.

Our Senior IT Project Managers lead a range of projects including IT development for bespoke solutions, configuration and customization of commercial off the shelf (COTS) supplier solutions, data management, analytics, AI, machine learning, business transformation and more.  Our projects deploy a range of technologies including internal custom-built solutions, packaged software, Software as a Service as well as Cloud based solutions and BI tools.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Senior IT Project Manager leads technology and/or business transformation projects/programmes to ensure that they align to the vision and business strategy, and that true business value is delivered to the customer as a result. Having a strong partnership with the business and IT customer driving the demand for the solution is critical to success in this role.

The Senior IT Project Manager is accountable for ensuring solutions solve key business needs in an integrated and simple manner, exploiting existing assets where feasible, and minimizing the long-term total cost of ownership. The role must also ensure that delivery occurs with a sense of urgency and speediness of response and can be completed within the approved programme budget and schedule commitments, whilst continuously assessing risk and balancing the need for flexibility and agility with conformance to standard methods and tools.

Focus areas include stakeholder management across Business, IT, and vendor partners, risk management and delivery of business benefit. This role is also required to collaborate with others in Programme and Project Management, and drive development of the project / programme management capability across IT in a tangible and measurable way.

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Technical, Science or Business degree or equivalent years of experience

  • At least 10 years of IT Programme/Project Management experience, ideally in a Pharmaceutical environment

  • Programme/project budget management and reporting experience (>$5million USD)

  • Experience of managing large scale delivery programme/projects

  • Experience of large-scale data migration and deployment planning

  • Programme/Project Management certification (Prince, PMP, MSP, Agile – Scrum, SAFe)

  • Experience working in a global organization and across cultural boundaries

  • Experience in Agile Project Management and tools (for example JIRA)

  • Demonstrated skills interacting with Senior Leaders

  • Experience working with third party suppliers/vendors

  • Experience working in a highly regulated environment (GxP validated solution delivery)

  • Excellent relationship management, and influencing skills

  • An entrepreneurial mindset and the proven ability to shape innovative solutions

  • Well-developed organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

Desirable Requirements:

  • Experience/understanding of the Precision Medicine and Human Biological Samples business domain

  • Experience of mentoring, coaching or developing other Project Managers
