Our Position

Medical Science Liaisons engage in balanced, objective scientific exchange with health care professionals in an effort to facilitate scientific discovery and informed treatment decisions.

Responsibilities:

  • Appropriately review emerging data with Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) discussing benefits and risks in a scientific, objective and balanced way

  • Work with HCPs as scientific consultants to engage in scientific activities aligned with corporate projects such as advisory boards, speaker programs and clinical trials

  • Identify HCPs with the scientific excellence and expertise to collaborate on forward thinking basic and pre-clinical research identified in strategic planning

  • Provide company with an understanding of regional HCPs, their practices and related key issues and trends in disease treatment

  • Act as regional (field based) subject matter experts in the lifecycle management of products in a variety of therapeutic areas

  • As part of the scientific exchange find opportunities for research with HCP’s and, where appropriate, connect these opportunities to the Medical Advisor as part of the Externally Sponsored Research (ESR) process

  • Provide valuable support to key clinical trial sites by providing relevant scientific expertise on the molecule being investigated either during site initiation or shortly thereafter

  • Collaborate with clinical operations groups in helping to ensure successful recruitment of clinical sites

Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate for this role must have the ability to effectively synthesize and communicate scientific information at a peer level with a physician. They must be able to connect with the HCP using the appropriate level of communication that facilitates the relevant exchange of scientific information.

  • The candidate best suited for this role is one with previous experience as a healthcare professional (PharmD, MD) or one with scientific expertise including PhD or MSc

  • Preferably two years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry in a physician-facing role

  • Excellent ability to learn and capacity for scientific concepts and knowledge

  • Effective and demonstrated strong communication (both verbal and written) and presentation skills

  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership and teamwork skills

  • Good organizational skills and demonstrated ability to work in a self-directed manner

  • Expert knowledge of the health care environment with regards to Opinion Leaders, Academia and the Medical Community in general

  • Travel required (Local, Regional and National)

  • Experience in the therapeutic area of Oncology (gastrointestinal cancers) is preferred

Annual base salary for this position ranges from 136,985.60 to 179,793.60.

Our compensation policies and practices have been designed to allow colleagues to progress through the salary range over time as they progress in their role. The range provided in this posting represents an offer pay range used in a majority of situations. The base pay offered will vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including the candidate's skills and experience, job-related knowledge, and other specific business and organizational needs.  In some cases, offers outside the range may also be considered to address unique circumstances.

In addition, our permanent positions offer an annual Variable Pay Bonus/Short Term Incentive opportunity as well as eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (if applicable to role).  Benefits offered for permanent roles include a competitive Flex Benefits & Retirement Savings Program, 4 weeks’ paid vacation, and annual Personal Days. Fixed Term Contract/Temporary positions (excluding students) are offered a Contract Benefits Program.
