About the Role
The Capability Development (CapDev) team drives commercial excellence by enhancing performance and potential across AstraZeneca Canada’s commercial organization. We partner with business teams to assess needs, design impactful learning solutions, and embed standard methodologies that elevate commercial operations and execution.

As Manager, Marketing Excellence, you’ll strengthen marketing capabilities across the Biopharmaceutical Business Unit (BBU) by embedding best practices, building frameworks, and advancing our three pillars of excellence — Marketing Competencies, Strategic Brand Planning, and Launch Excellence.

This role offers a strong foundation for future career growth within AstraZeneca.

Key Responsibilities

Drive Marketing Capability Development

  • Develop and implement the local marketing capability strategy aligned with AZC 2030 ambitions.

  • Embed the AZ Global Marketing Competency Framework, including evolving skills in AI, omnichannel, content strategy, and performance measurement.

  • Curate toolkits, resources, and communities of practice to close capability gaps.

  • Partner with Global Marketing Excellence, HR, and external providers to scale high-impact learning.

  • Lead onboarding for new marketers across the BBU to accelerate performance.

  • Establish governance standards, success metrics, and continuous improvement processes.

Lead Strategic & Tactical Brand Planning Activities

  • Own BBU brand planning standards, templates, and governance to ensure clear, data-driven strategies.

  • Organize and align local activities around the Global Brand Week. 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional and global partners to strengthen strategy execution and integration.

Establish Local Launch Excellence Standards

  • Build and maintain a consistent launch framework, tools, and metrics from pre-launch to post-launch.

  • Drive readiness with cross-functional partners (medical, access, sales, finance) to deliver best-in-class launches.

  • Track launch KPIs and facilitate post-launch reviews to gather insights and standard processes.

Foster a Culture of Performance

  • Use the Performance Partner Framework to find opportunities, design impactful learning solutions, and measure outcomes.

  • Champion a test-and-learn mindset, leveraging AI and new learning technologies.

  • Model AstraZeneca’s values, promoting collaboration, agility, and innovation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Scienceor related field; MBA preferred.

  • 5+ years in life science industry. 

  • Previous marketing experience and/or commercial perfection preferred. 

  • Experience developing capability programs and coachingteams, preferred.
