Associate Director, Biostatistics (Oncology)

Accountabilities:
As a Statistical Science Associate Director, you'll take on the role of lead statistician for clinical or preclinical therapeutic Oncology area. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the delivery and oversight of multiple studies within a project, potentially serving as a Global Project Statistician for standard oncology drug projects.
- Contributing to statistical methodological advances.
- Leading statistical thinking and contributions to studies, development plans, regulatory strategy, health technology assessment, and commercial activities.
- Directing project work with statistical staff and/or CRO partners to ensure delivery to standards, quality, and time.
- Developing design options and providing high-quality decision support for informed study or project decisions.
- Quantifying the benefit, risk, value, and uncertainty of emerging asset/product profiles.
- Investigating and applying novel statistical approaches, including modeling and simulation.
- Mentoring and supporting the education and training of statistics staff.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- MSc/PhD in Statistics, Mathematics (with substantial statistical component), or recognized equivalent to stats MSc
- Strong knowledge of programming in R and/or SAS
- Knowledge of technical and regulatory requirements related to the role
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build strong relationships
Technical:
- Usually PhD in Statistics or a relevant topic
- Experience of independent research
- Delivering innovative statistical solutions in an applied environment
Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Project Management Skills
- Proficiency in SAS and R/Python languages
- Knowledge of Bayesian statistics from theory to computation is a plus
Technical:
- Track record of research and methodological development in Statistics, supported by scientific publications in first-class statistical journals
Annual base salary for this position ranges from $136,882 to $179,658. AstraZeneca is committed to providing fair and equitable compensation opportunities to all colleagues. Our compensation policies and practices have been designed to allow colleagues to progress through the salary range over time as they progress in their role. The range provided in this posting represents an offer pay range used in a majority of situations. The base pay offered will vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including the candidate's skills and experience, job-related knowledge, and other specific business and organizational needs. In some cases, offers outside the range may also be considered to address unique circumstances.
In addition, our permanent positions offer an annual Variable Pay Bonus/Short Term Incentive opportunity as well as eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (if applicable to role). Benefits offered for permanent roles include a competitive Flex Benefits & Retirement Savings Program, 4 weeks’ paid vacation, and annual Personal Days. Fixed Term Contract/Temporary positions (excluding students) are offered a Contract Benefits Program.
