Primary Care Account Representative - NSW Regional North
Do you have experience in pharmaceutical sales, primary care or key account management, and a passion for improving outcomes for people living with cardiovascular, renal and metabolic conditions? Would you like to use your commercial and strategic skills to accelerate access to important medicines across a large regional territory? Then AstraZeneca might be the one for you!
ABOUT ASTRAZENECA
AstraZeneca is a global, science-led biopharmaceutical company that focuses on the discovery, development and commercialisation of prescription medicines, primarily for the treatment of diseases in four therapy areas – Oncology; Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolism (CVRM); Respiratory & Immunology (R&I); and Rare Disease.
At AstraZeneca Australia, we have been working to deliver the best value to patients for more than 60 years, and we push the boundaries of science to deliver life-changing medicines.
Business Area
Our Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolism (CVRM) team is focused on improving outcomes for people living with conditions including heart failure, chronic kidney disease and type 2 diabetes. Primary Care Physicians play a critical role in the diagnosis, treatment and appropriate referral of patients across these interconnected conditions.
As a Primary Care Key Account Representative, you will play an important role in accelerating the growth and market share of Forxiga in the primary care environment, with an initial focus on heart failure and chronic kidney disease. This is a field-based role covering Regional North NSW, including Newcastle and the Mid North Coast. The territory includes locations such as Swansea, the Hunter Valley, Tamworth, Armidale, Coffs Harbour, Taree, Forster and Port Macquarie, and requires a genuine willingness to travel extensively.
What you'll do
Develop a deep understanding of heart failure, chronic kidney disease, type 2 diabetes and the role of Forxiga in supporting patient outcomes across these interrelated conditions.
Analyse customer, prescribing, initiation and sales data to identify high-potential accounts, prioritise activity and support Forxiga growth and market share gains.
Develop and implement longitudinal client and portfolio plans that address key decision-making points and barriers across the primary care patient pathway.
Build partnerships with GPs, nurses, nurse practitioners, diabetes educators, pharmacists and other clinical and administrative partners within primary care accounts.
Complete quarterly reviews of target accounts and customers, assessing prioritisation, progress and return on investment, and report insights to sales management and the brand team.
Collaborate with CVRM colleagues, GP representatives and hospital-facing account managers to share account intelligence and deliver aligned customer plans.
Essential for the role
Shown success in pharmaceutical sales as a Sales Representative, Health Sales Representative or Key Account Manager, with several years of proven experience.
Experience working with primary care customers and a strong understanding of the primary and tertiary care landscape.
Proven critical thinking and business insight, including skill in developing customer and account engagement plans.
Demonstrated understanding and application of selling techniques that influence customer behaviour change.
Strong data literacy and the ability to use client, prescription, initiation, and sales information to prioritise opportunities.
Excellent collaboration and communication skills, showing proficiency in working independently while staying connected to a wider team.
Willingness and ability to undertake frequent travel throughout Regional North NSW.
Desirable for the role
Experience in GP sales, primary care account management or a KAM-style role.
Experience in cardiovascular, diabetes, chronic kidney disease or broader metabolic therapy areas.
Experience with patient journey mapping.
Experience engaging a wider account ecosystem, including nurses, pharmacists, diabetes educators and other healthcare stakeholders.
Existing knowledge of the Newcastle, Hunter Valley or Mid North Coast territory.
Completed Medicines Australia training.
