Associate Principal Scientist - Process Engineering

Introduction to Role:

Join our dynamic Operations team as an Associate Principal Scientist, Process Engineering. In this role, you will be an authority in process engineering in a Drug Substance manufacturing pilot plant, delivering high quality medicines to our patients. You will be responsible for maintaining compliance in relation to COMAH regulations and pressure systems regulations. You'll have the chance to create an impact on society through our sustainability goals and be a key contributor to Zero Carbon by 2025  and carbon negative across the entire value chain by 2030.

Accountabilities:

With engineering expertise you'll handle process engineering aspects of new drug projects, optimise equipment performance, and lead risk assessments. You will provide oversight on large capital projects, integrate standards into project plans, evaluate new technology/processes, and lead/contribute to problem-solving activities. Furthermore, you will plan and complete medium complexity capital projects, mentor junior engineers, and champion a culture of continuous learning.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Chartered chemical engineer

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Chemical Engineering

  • Experience working on a COMAH site

  • Significant understanding of Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE)

  • Experienced in risk assessment techniques

  • Practical experience of the use of fundamental calculations to support project decisions

  • Experience maintaining and commissioning pressure systems

  • Experience leading capital projects and/or acting as an SME on larger projects

  • A good communicator with the ability to influence and challenge across the business

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Experience in continuous manufacturing of fine chemicals

  • Proven experience working in drug substance manufacturing assets

  • Experience working in a GMP environment
