Manufacturing Manager
The Manufacturing Manager leads a team of manufacturing associate specialists/specialists that oversee the Manufacturing function at plant level and supplies to strategy development to deliver manufacturing success for Autologous Cell Therapy clinical and non-clinical pipeline at AstraZeneca’s Tarzana Facility.
- Contributes to the development, and drives implementation, of operational plans to achieve manufacturing strategy objectives and KPIs.
- Acts as manager for a significant functional Manufacturing area and leads group of associate manufacturing specialists/manufacturing specialists accountable to deliver patient supply according to manufacturing demand.
- Ensures Manufacturing projects are implemented in line with identified AstraZeneca policies, procedures and standards, to achieve agreed scope and cost.
- Ensures compliance with Health, Safety, Environment, current Good Manufacturing standards and all other work standards.
- Communicates business needs and helps translate these needs into requirements
- Leads the co-ordination of resources within the department for weekly production scheduling
- Leads all aspects of the introduction of new processes from the identification of business need, through to the timely introduction and formal acceptance of the change by manufacturing operations
- Leads individuals within own section of Manufacturing to deliver the highest levels of performance and maintain employee relations
- Provides clear leadership, direction and development opportunities to team members
- Identifies and leads improvement initiatives and project teams in support of longer term business strategy
- Maintains the lean manufacturing principles and processes within area of responsibility
- Resolves long term, complex issues while assessing the risk to product, people and plant
- Develops and cultivates technical expertise and knowledge within project team or broader Manufacturing function by disseminating best practices and sharing knowledge across functions and project teams
Required Skills/Background
- High School Degree
- 5+ years of team management/supervisory experience
- Technical or scientific background
- Significant experience in similar environment at a management level
- Sound understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice, Safety, Health and Environment and Standard Operating Procedures
- Project management, change management and people management skills
- Good working knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry
- Technical expertise in at least one Manufacturing area, and competence in several others
- Communication skills and ability to influence others
- Comfort with risk and ambiguous situations
Desired Skills/Background
- Bachelors degree or Masters degree, extensive experience in line management, technical support and project management
The annual base salary (or hourly rate of compensation) for this position ranges from $94,692 -$118,366. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles) or to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
